I keep the windows down and radio on.

No rattles here.
If a tree falls in teh woods, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise? You have rattles, you just don't hear them. Come on, admit it.

I discovered the seatbelt rattle fairly easily lol. Now everyone who rides with me has to put it back or they aren't allowed to get out.

I have a dash rattle, but its random. Comes and goes as it pleases, with no specific circumstances.

Zs have such a personality, don't they?

i stuffed foam in my passenger door to stop that mess there. i also glued pieces of the rearview together to stop the rattle there. i took the center console out and stuffed foam in there to stop some phantom squeaks/rattles. lastly, i took my car in to have them work on the pass & driver window clicks. oh - i also got rid of the stock potenzas - too hard for me. i got avon techs (love them!!!) and now my car rides as smoothly and quietly as a boat on calm water.

Default Rattles

My Z has had 45,000 miles of rotten roads and has yet to begin to shake apart or act buzzy.I'm impressed with it's build quality.

Standard equipment in all my ex-cars has always been a Philips screwdriver in the glovebox. At long lights or in stalled traffic,I would pull the thing out and just tighten the screwheads that I could comfortably reach. It was often surprising to see how many screws would work themselves loose in short periods of time;some would repeatedly take a full turn--or more--to tighten.
(By the way, many of my screwdriver-hauling cars were Datsun/Nissan...).

Since the Z has no fcking glovebox,I now carry the tools in the tire cubby (wrapped in towels to keep THEM from rattling)and I've never once felt the need to go in there for the screwdriver. The Z's only serious rattle happened when the nut that secures the shifter to the linkage backed off and caused a symphony of noise that both scared and annoyed me.Dealer fixed it in a minute and charged zip.

The screws that hold the splashguards in the front came loose and one fell out. When I tested the ones in the rear, they were loose,so you might want to check yours from time to time to forestall any embarrassing splashguard moments.Nobody needs those.

You can create your own personal rattles by putting coins in the hollows of the armrests. Not hooking the passenger seatbelt in it's little receptacle works too,on some Z models.Certain objects, like keys or plastic boxes of screws placed into the Mystery Hole work well. You can even get your license plate frame--or the tag itself--to create a far-off rattle, something that will drive you crazy trying to track down ("...it only happens when I'm driving fast with the window down and the radio off..."),so if you don't have any current rattles, there are a just few tips on how to get some...

I have a rattle or "TINGING" that comes from outside of the car on the driverside rear. It does this under light acceleration or decelleration under 4k rpms. Its like it maybe a cv joint but not sure. Any clues

i certainly have rattles coming from the dash area on rough roads, but i pin pointed the problem, i pressed down on the front air vents and the rattles goes away. I wonder if Nissan can fix the problem under warranty.

If there is any reason I would sell my 350Z it would be over the rattles. I have a number of rattles. Even after taking into the dealer about 8+ times, it still has them all over. My 350Z has a $3000 stereo in it and even with the stereo cranked up, the rattles are still annoying.

I also have a 4x4 full size Dodge truck that is 11 years old and take off road in Baja often. The truck does not rattle at all and has stiffer suspension than the 350Z. There is no excuse for the 350's rattles. I guess in some ways Dodge must have better built quality than Nissan regarding interiors sad to say.

It is sad when you rent a econo box at the airport and enjoy it more than your Z because it does not rattle.

One thing I can tell you guys is that Nissan tech or any automotive techs hate fixing rattles. It doesnt pay them crap! Usuallly there is technically bulletin to fix rattle.

I might be one of the best rattle Specialist out there since I've fix tons and tons of VW/Audi rattles that most other techs are clueless about or just dont care. I even had a Scion TC that the Toyota tech couldnt fix my rattle. Since it was under warrenty I wanted them to fix it but they couldnt, they are really lazy when it comes to rattle problems. So I had to fix it.

I vow to myself to never bring my car to a dealership unless necessary! Most techs dont care about customer cars, only making money.

I think the rattles come from the fact that the interior parts are cheap. They are a plastic like compound, (if not entirely plastic) and when the rub the rattle loose.

"rattle" is the noise produced from a rapid succession of short duration sounds usually of a shallow "clanking" sound; typically associated with a loose -fitting light weight object. "Rattle" is different from "buzz" in that a buzzing sound is usually a deeper bassier tone with an even more rapid succession than the rattle and is somewhat similar to humming.

I was hearing buzzing and thought it was coming from the dash for the longest time. Then one day out of luck...I adusted the rearview mirror and it stopped. Apparently it is coming from the outer ring of the "homelink" rearview mirror. I have yet to fix it....I'm more concerned w/ the tire growl that I just started to hear.

Nothing wrong with getting a little "buzz" every so often

I've got a rattle in my dash as well that's driving me up a wall. Sounds like it's coming from the triple gauge pod, and CONSTANTLY rattles, doesn't matter if I'm idling, accelerating, decelerating. It's horrible. I really need to get under there and see if I can stop it.
