I switched to Mobile1 5w-30 at the 1500 mile mark. I used the stock nissan oil filters as well. I picked them up at the dealership along with a new copper crusher washer.

 

What do you mean a TRUE synthetic oil? And if I'm already running Mobil 1, is it a bad idea to switch to another synthetic? I'm only going on my 2nd synthetic oil change.

 

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Royal Purple is not a full synthetic.
Its petroleum based just like Molbil 1, both very good oils and you cant go wrong with either one but the only true synthetic oils on the market are Amsoil, Motul, and Elf. I use Amsoil and Motul, I switched from RP am M1 after I learned about oils. Mobil 1 extended performance filters with one of the above true synthetics will protect well after 5000 miles but thats when I change mine, for peace of mind only, I know they could go much longer.
