Default Odor from A/C

Whenever I turn on my car, and turn on the A/C, I get this stale smell coming out of the A/C vent..anyone know what's the best way to get rid of this? any instruction on how to flush or clean the vents? I remember on my TL when I had it, sometimes water from rain stays in the vents above my hood, and I usually let the heat run at full blast for like 20 minutes....anything suggestion on the Z?
thanX

I do run my car with fresh air at all time...my last car, I was told it was mildew, and usually I can ran my heater at full blast for about 20 minutes and it went away....but i've tried it with this car and still comes back...and I live in Houston, and we haven't had rain in forever, plus the high heat and dry air right now, that mildew should dry up and die on it's own

I think all AC's do this after a while. As far as I know, it's just getting rid of stale air from the last use. But if they sell a deodorizer for it...sweet.

I just asked the guy from my service department at my work and he said they do do an A/C flush, which is $99 here.....but I was told by my buddy from Nissan that you can get an A/C deodorizer from Autozone or wherever for cheaper...

Try spraying an entire can of Lysol into the intake vents while running the A/C and then the heater and switch between the low and high vents so you get all of them. Just be careful not to be sitting in the car while someone sprays the vents .....unless you like a face full of lysol

If that doesn't work then you can look at the more expensive methods

yah..that's what I'm planning to do...i heard clorox is proven (in a recent study) much more powerful at killing germs/mildew than lysol....they just came out with a deodorizer, so I'ma try that out and i'll let ya know....

i just called guy from Autozone and they do have the A/c deodorizer spray, supposedly it doesn't masked the smell or odor, but instead, it removes odors and kills mold, mildew and germs....
