Default recomendation to those with 1000miles or more

go on outside, pop the hood.

undo the 2 little clips on the filter, just pull em up, then pull the filter toward you and up. out comes the filter. now have fun. I just did it, there was like 7 leaves in there. that cant be good for performance. since were all trying to get like .5CI of more air in there, this is something we should all be sure to check.

I only have 3000 miles btw. but theres leaves in there.

This may be a terrible question, but can you describe to me exactly where the filter is?

Thanks

facing the open engine bay, its going to be on your right. the filter itself is the large black box thing with a yellow sticker on it I believe.

there will be 2 metal clips on top that pull up. to unlock it so you can pull it foward away from the lip, and then up and out.

the intake box is at the very bottom of this pic, you can even see the clips, they look silverish white in the picture, there round peices of metal.

When I changed over to the K & N filter I dug out 3 leaves as well. It's amazing what gets sucked up in there!

When I switched to the K&N Filter, I had a ton of crap also. took the shop vac to it and cleaned it out. Most of the debris was to small to get out by hand.

ares... good advice... I discovered the same thing the hard way.

Went to dyno my Z. After two disappointing base runs, we pulled the filter to simulate the improvement a higher flow filter would get me.

Upon removing the filter, we found several leaves, two candy bar wrappers, an astonishingly large piece of newspaper, and a small plastic bag!!!

Needless to say, my third run was better than my first two. I gained almost 10 hp and 10 ftlbs of torque just by removing the crap from my intake!

I found the neighbor's dog that ran away last month in there! I'm sure they will be grateful.
