thats the question could the car make you a better driver or bring the best out of you or can the driver bring the best out of the car?
see I have a Z before that I had a 240 and a intege gsr! I got to drive last week a evo that is heavily modded and a stock type s RSX 05. if any of you are aware of the 94 hwy going to campo its a very steep and long curve road for like about 45 minuts no cops!!! you can get on your car hard well last weel I got to drive the rsx and and the evo I feelt like I can tackle the corners sooo much easier in the car than my z like if I had more ***** to go faster, and it wasnt my car either!!! I drove the EVO and yes it was really fast but I felt I had good control of the car the whole time even when I would slide around the corners. Now my Z hehehehe I was crapping bricks going around the corners I felt like if I stomped on it in the corners I would lose it I had no ***** whats so ever only on the straight aways! for some reason im scared of my car!! could it be the cars or me thats a big deal? anyone else scared of their cars? my car is stock!!!!! I felt really comfy driving the rsx the evo i was ehhh ok the Z i was lots more carefull!! I drove all three cars hard. so I dont know!!

Its the driver. Its the driver. Its the driver.
Take the 350Z to a professional driving school, and let a pro take it around the track a couple of times with you in the passenger seat. If you are not frightened, and amazed what the car can do in the right hands, I will eat my hat.

Experience, confidence, ability? I don't know. What surprises me is that an instructor can get in any car and push the car to its limit. Obviously it comes from experience and confidence in your abilities.
It must be the fact you were driving someone elses car, rather than risking your own car letting it all hang out on public roads?
I get the exact opposite feeling from my Z. It inspires confidence in my abilities and seemingly begs me to push harder and harder. The stability and feedback are great and the car seems to perform better the faster I go.
As far as track driving, anyone with halfway decent driving skills can push any car to its limits without having to take concentration away from the task at hand worrying about police, hitting curbs, trees, telephone poles, pedestrians, other motorists, etc.
I agree with david though. It comes down to experience, confidence and ability. Although I don't understand why anyone would have problems with the Z that can do well in other cars, as the Z is an extremely driver friendly car, other than what I mentioned already. I grew up driving FR sports cars and the Z has not let me down in any way shape or form. I have been nothing but impressed.

it is always the driver. i used to do alot of autocrossing and was very good at it beating out guys with slicks with my street tires. but one event on a super tight course, i had a guy in a stock jetta beat my time in my 450hp c4 vette!!
autocrossing is a good way to learn as the speeds are not too fast and going "off-course" means hitting a cone or 2. it actually is alot of fun and a huge challenge. anyone good at autocrossing will always be good on a road course, yet a good road courser will not always be good at autocrossing.
