Default Problems with '06 Wheels

Anyone notice that the finish on the '06 wheels is very thin. I have washed the car 2 times since purchased and there are nicks and scratches on the paint on the wheels. Whats odd is the pattern of the scratches. It looks like brushmarks or somthing. I have never run thru ANY carwash. Any thoughts.....

well i have the regular 18's on and ive noticed some nicks here and there, but when i first bought the car, there was a red slash mark (paint probably or marker) on each rim and a blue dot on each rim.

i wonder what they were for??

I have the blue dot to. Don't you think these wheels really pop. What do you think about chroming the wheel. Too much or tight ?

I had the same red mark and blue dot. I think its just from the factory. I have to remove one of the dots still I think..

I haven't noticed any obvious bad signs of the finish..I'll take a look and see.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but I really like the wheels as they are. One of the appealing features of the Z is the lack of chrome; brushed aluminum gives it a rather sophisticated look.

The dot on the wheels match red dots on the new tires. It's for ideal balancing. Red dot on tire is heavy apot, blue or white dot on wheel is light spot. They are lined up when installed. Do a search; this has been discussed. Many people prefer to leave the dots on the wheels to aid when mounting the next set of tires.

Ditto for me, I've got the blue dots on my wheels too.
I really like the look of the wheels on my '06 Z.
Compared to what they used to put on the car - these are a HUGE improvement.

if you are talking about these wheels, i love the look....i think chrome would be overboard...so far I have not experienced any bad nicks or anything.....and as you can see i am a blue dot....

I'll pay extra, extra attention to the wheels the next time I wash.. but my '06 with 4000+ miles has wheels that still look brand spankin new. I hand wash her at least once a week.

I had all 3 of the dots also. The White and Red i removed with a pressure washer, but the Blue ones will not come off. They are in a bad place to scrub with anything. Not to mention they look like crap. Everytime I clean my wheels the blue dot kilz me.

I did noticed a few brush marks on my rear wheel.

Same here. about 4,440 miles on my '06 and I have not seen 1 single imperfection on my wheels. The dots on the rims came off with my fingernail.
