How about opening the door (driver) of your Z and reading the label on the doorjam?

Mine is "10/02".

Default VIN

I assume the serial no. at the end of the VIN is just that - the number your Z was in production. Are they making any of these cars in the US and are they intending to do so? Mine was produced in Oppama, Japan, I guess No. 9818. Wonder what serial they are up to now. Will check the date on the door jam.

The last I heard they had no plans for production in the US. I would expect that it never will be since the production is limited compared to the other models Nissan makes. This year is supposedly 30k worldwide. To contrast that is a little less than how many Corvettes are produced every year.

Default Z's and Vettees

thanks mcc. Chevy produced only 300 vetts in '53, its first year, and they were all polo white with red interiors. They planned 10,000 in 1954, but only built 3,640 and in 1955 only 700. In 1955 chevy dropped a 265 cu in v8 in it, 0-60 in 8.7, and added Zora Duntov, the rest is the history - America's only sports car. Nissan has a long history with the Z too, the first one came out just as I graduated, and it really was something special. I traded my bug for a Duster. Shouldacoulda had a Z. The limited production of the latest Z sounds good to me.

I spend a few weeks in Avon every summer with friends and family, fishing, surfing and laying around - love OBX.
