Default Advice for shipping a car interstate

I am shipping my car from Mass to Cali.

I searched for transport companies and I decided to either use Tnt or DAS transport.

I transported my RX8 in the past, but that was not modified. This time I am transporting my Track Z with a carbon fiber lip, Nismo Body Kit, and 19" Racing Hart...

Should I bring my video camera and record the loading process? Two guys on this forum got their cars damaged by their transportor and the transportor refused to pay for the damages cause they didn't have pictures.

Will having a video clip or pictures help in case of damages? What's the best thing to do (except for driving it down...)?

it may or may not get on their nerves, but if I were you, I would. Just for the fact that it couldn't hurt if something went wrong.

I recall seeing pictures of an e36 m3 that had fallen off the ramps while being loaded into the back of a companies semi truck trailer. It was ugly, but the pictures only helped with the claim. Video ability would've been a stronger case had there been any arguments.

Yes, I would film it...loading & unloading. But I would tell the company in advance & explain you have heard of damage happening & want the documentation. If they object that's a clue to find another company.

from detroit, mi to foster city, ca took 7-10 business days... depends on the cycle of the month and where your shipping from.

cost ~725$ (tax deductable if your moving for a job)

I think the transportation company outsource their transports to truck companies.. I am not very sure about that but I won't be surprised if they suck at loading lowered or modified cars.

I am just a little worried right now, cause there have been so many people telling me stories about the shippers screwing up.
