Default first day with my 350zr, help problem #1

Hello All,

I've been searching for the past 3-4 months for a 350zr and ended up getting a left over new 2005 350zr touring yellow today for 36,500 otd (300miles)

Unfortunately, I've come across my first problem

When I took the car home today the tire pressure on all 4 tires were around 34psi after getting it home... few hours later I went to take some pictures of the car and drive it to a nice parking lot only to notice that all 4 of my tire pressure fell to 28-29psi and the low tire pressure light came on..

I had to take it to a gas station to pump it back up to 34psi...

I don't think I hit any pot holes or nails on the way home. Definitely not all 4 tires.. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

The tire pressure sensor seems to work fine, because it went up in real time as I pumped up the tires..

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Again, I’m new to this forum

Corrections: the tire pressure was 34psi prior to driving it off the lot

Go to the dealer asap and tell them what's going on so they have record of it. They are a lot more likely to cover this if you get it documented right away.

Air expands as it heats up. You checked your tires when you got home and those pressures were with the tires hot from driving, thus higher. As they cooled, the pressure dropped. If you filled them up to 34PSI with the tires cold (recommended is 35PSI cold), then you'll be fine. next time you look at your pressures after driving a bit, they'll read in the 38-39 range. Perfectly normal. Enjoy the car!

I actually check the tire pressure prior to driving it off the lot at it was set at 34 each... I guess it cooled down after 6 hours or so and dropped to 28..

I just went and pumped them up to 35...

Don't rely on the TPS, or as I call them, POS, lol.

Anyway, you should be okay, might be a TPS malfunction, if so take it to the dealer. Have you used a regular tire guage?

Congrats and post pictures! BTW, you need to change your forum nic here, ask the moderators they can help in changing it.

Actually, I find my TPS to be quite accurate when compared to a handheld TPG.

Make sure the PSI of your tires is 35psi cold.

Tire pressure should increase by about 10% when the tires are hot (to about 38/39 pounds from 35 pounds). Also the tire pressure guage is accurate only when the car is going at least 16 mph.

Default 35 psi?

The sticker on my car door states to inflate the tires to 32 psi. The manual doesn't mention the recommended pressure, it only tells me where I can find the info on the door. I have an '04 ZR enthusiast by the way, with stock rims/tires. Has the recommended pressure changed?

So your tires came with too little pressure. Interesting. When I bought my '06, it came with too much pressure. Cold, it was 40psi. Stupid dealer!
