Default Tested my Z

Just tested my Z on the straight the other day.

It is said that the speed is limited on 250km/h (156mph)
I did like 265km/h (165mph).
Does the speedometer show more that the actual speed is...
or is it not limited at all?
Had the feeling it could do even more...
What do you think?

Do you have a rev-up?? I've heard reports they're not speed limited....

Does the speedometer show more that the actual speed is...
Yeah, it will overestimate your speed the faster you go. Like with mine which is electronically limited to 159mph on the speedo, it's more like 156mph in reality.

like plump said, a Z that's not elec. limited can approach the speed rating of the tires... which are rated for 168mph.... the rev-ups will have a higher top speed than the non-revups.

untrue... i have a rev up motor and im electronically limited to 157 mph. limiter kicks in, cuts the fuel off. rpm's were around 5,000 so i had 2,000 rpm left to go, i wouldnt doubt that the Z can hit 170 if you take out the limiter.

Is there any documentation to support what speed it is exactly limited to? I have seen a few numbers floating around.

thanks imsekey.... I've heard from a few people that it wasn't limited, and one person even posted a picture of the electronic speedo in the 160's... I wasn't sure..

One thing I DO know without a shadow of a doubt, is that my '04 is limited to 159mph on the speedos (156mph actual). I've hit the 159mph brick wall more times than I will admit. It will maintain 159 perfectly up & down grades, which means it's being limited by the ECU. The engine has more power. If it were drag limited you would gain speed going down a hill and lose speed going up, but the Z keeps it pegged perfectly.
