SC430 may not be a sports car, but its still a VERY nice car. and from the outside it does have a definite resemblance, particularly from the back.

as for it being a sports car or haveing 4 seats(hehehehe, riiiiight), or being an automatic... thats fine and all, but noone said it was the SAME car, just resembled it from the outside.

I don't get it. Am I the only one who sees almost absolutely no similarities between our Z's, and the TT? The TT has a short rounded front, our Z's have a long more pointed front. The TT has a short rounded back end, our Z's have a longer not rounded back end. The ONLY similarity between a Z and a TT is the roofline, but that's only with the coupe TT. Our Z's look more like a celica than a TT (sorry, but it does bear a slight resemblance to a celica) The Z definitely looks a little porsche-ish too. I've always said it looks like the bastard child of a porsche and a celica.

it is the high waist, and low roof line that resemble the TT, but that is about it.

It's funny, my dad drives a SC430 and everybody that looks at them in our office parking lot says they look like the same car. Then I tell them that mine was less than half the price, and my dad starts getting defensive. Its fun to push his buttons.

Seriously, the SC is a beautiful car and far surpases the Z in interior comfort and stereo (Mark Levinson compared to the crappy Bose), not to mention the fact that it is a convertible. In every other area though, the Z holds its own or surpases the Lexus.

This guy at my work thought that my car cost $40,000. He even went around and told everyone that without actually asking me.

I showed a picture of this car to a few co-workers they asked me how I can justify spending $50,000 on a car. Oh well I didn't even try to explain just made me feel good so I left and let them ponder.

ya, the Z beats it in EVERY area that counts for a SPORTS car. My dad has a CLK55, and is getting a SL500, I poke fun at him that my car will beat his $95k POS, and he actually has contemplated getting a Z to "play with".

btw, the Levinson stereo isn't a TRUE levinson, it is a Harmon Kardon, but HK group has done a GREAT job of marketing that product and using Marks name. I would like a better system, But I am NOT sure how much I care, still debating whether I should pull my Alpine out of my other car and put my amp in it, or NOT, I am NOT sure I want the trouble?

Most people just come up to me, tell me they love the car, and ask what it is. Have had a few ask if it is a small Porsche. No one has suggest a Lexus nor Audi yet. My wife has ahad a few Boxster drivers where she works ask for rides and then say they are sure the Z will beat their cars.

The thing I love about the Z is there really is no other car on the road that looks like it.It has its own identity. The closest comparison to me would be the SC430.People have mentioned the TT(not to me).

I want to cry.... a friend saw it and thought it was a miata.... obviously she doesnt know much since the Z is hardly anything like a miate, the hard top would be sign 1.

as for SC430, and the Z surpassing it... ughh come on guys, I think many would say I AVIDLY support the Z, but the SC430 is amazing. I wouldnt spend 65grand on a car, but stilll... the Z surpasses it in all areas that matter for a sports car, yeah, so sports car included nothing to do with luxury... if we go that far, then the evo and STi surpass the Z in all area that matter for a sports car. anyway, I suggest some of you sit in it. the stereo is truly AMAZING, the hard top convertable.... oh man, the car is just amazing to be in.

ONLY cause of AWD. Put AWD on the Z, and it would smoke both.

did you buy the wrong car?? You seem VERY impressed with Luxury, maybe the Infiniti would have fit your needs more??

btw, have you ever driven a Ferarri 360 Modena?? it happens to be the ANTI-Luxury car, NO power seats (just a bar to move the seat back and forth), NO insulation for noise, etc...the WHOLE car is very raw. So can I say that my Z is a better car since I have power seats and all the neat toys that came with it?? HELL NO!!!!

Remember, the Z is a drivers sports car, NOT a luxury car (and NOT intended to be), nothing wrong with that, it is just the way it is.

My dads CLK55 is PUT together very very well and is a pretty good balance of Luxury:Sport, BUT it still is an AUTO, which immediately crosses it OFF my list of GREAT cars that I would want (I will tease him even more when the SL arrives). I keep telling him that he needs to get another 911 (996 C4s to be exact), but He must be getting old or something

I love the Z, and did buy it for a sports car, does that mean I dont want an S600? or 745i? is the Z a better car then either? god no. its faster, but there is more than sports, I chose the Z cause I wanted a mix. just pointing out that the SC430 is an incredable car. but I would still get the Z even if I was crazy enough to buy a 65000$ car. doesnt mean its not a nice car.

I, for one, am not questioning that at all Ares. I love the SC430, and it is the perfect car for my dad. It provides a good mix of sportiness, luxury, comfort and good looks. The power top is awesome and the SC definitely goes too. I believe that Lexus in general makes the best cars in terms of value. Their entire line of cars is solid and their service is top notch.

true, when you think about the incredible value the Z is, it is pretty amazing. My Bro just got a RSX-S, that car is just over $24k, to think he could have paid a couple more G's and could have gotten a BASE Z with the same tranny, engine, and suspension as the $34k touring and track model, makes that car an incredible value. Of course he wouldn't end up with leather, BUT who cares.

just so everybody doesn't misunderstand me, I really like the SC, it is a very pretty car, and I thought and still do think-a great value compared to the SL (last version, which began to look dated, although the NEW SL is in another class all together). But the Z doesn't even come close to competing with the SC, NOT b/c of price (as we all just read the R&T article that compared the Z to a ZO6, an $84k 911, and M3, regardless of price, just b/c those are true sports cars, which the SC, SL, CL and other big/nice luxury coupes/cabs are NOT).
