Has your Z been mistaken for another type of car? I have been asked numerous times, "what kind of car is that?" Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this?

I think the rear looks similar to the Lexus coupe. Just today I walked into a restaurant and the waiter asked me if it was a Lexus...

 

yeah, looks alot like the sc430, but bit longer. the audi TT comes to mind too.

 

every time i go for a drive.

i get a kick out of the questions. it makes me feel like i have an incredibly exotic car.

I get a lot of guesses, a lot of people don't know what it is

 

a kid at school came up to me the other day and said, are you the guy with the new audi TT? I almost cried , but all the time random people ask me about the car, how much was it, what type of car is it, how it drives etc.

 

I have heard anything from Porsche, TT, to SC430. The Porsche is about the ONLY flattering on out of the group for me.

 

your not flattered being compared to a 65000$ SC430? that car is incredable, a bit expensive, but incredable anyway.

TT is a nice car, a bit old now, and behind the times. and porsche is... a porsche, for whatever thats worth.

Ive gotten all 3, and Im not upset at any. all 3 are cars I wouldnt say no to driving.

 

yeah i've been hearing my car being comapred (looks) to a Porsche and Audi TT. Never got the SC430 comment yet tho. People have also been guessing the price.. usually around $45K-$50K... then i tell them its only $33K.. their faces just go hehehe

 

I have been told that it looks like a Porsche too! I love this car!

I get Porsche comparisons a lot. Not too bad to be compared to a much more expensive car! As long as it is not being compared to an 'el cheapo' I think I can deal with it.

 

The one I get most often "If you dont me asking, how much was that? 40K? 50K?."

I respond "Naw not quite, mine was 29K plus tax" There jaw drops.

For one guy I had to pull out the sticker. . . he did not believe me.

I get some of the most jealous stares from MB/BMW/Lexus drivers. Man thats funny.

 

The mechanic that did my inspection said the back looks like a Lex SC430, the profile looks like a TT and the front looks like a porsche.. What a combo LOL

 

NOPE, it is a pretty car, BUT not a TRUE sports car.

Porsche YES, TT-maybe, SC430-Nope.

 

I've also heard Porsche, Audi and Lexus. What I think is funny is that a lot have tought it cost between $60-$100K. I could understand $40-$50K because the Twin Turbos were going for that much back in '96. Common folk are entertaining.

 

My first date with this girl thought I payed $60,000! I told her it was in the mid 30s. She was a little surprised. My Z is definitely worth the price.

 

Hmmm Lexus SC430:

1. More HP
2. More Torque
3. Only comes in automatic

I think #3 says it all.

plus it is slower and a cab, NOT a coupe.

 

Porsche, TT, SC430, kids think it's the Bond car (Astin Martin).

 

at least no one thought it was a Beetle.
