since when did parking violations get on your record and effect insurance prices?

Statefarm Quoted me $430 a month with no tickets on my record at age 20. I was paying $290 a month for a civic with no tickets.

03MTZ-I pay $430/6mo with GEICO. bottom line, if you want to keep your insurance cheap don't get make claims/get tickets. I hate when people ***** about high rates or getting nonrenewed after costing their insurance company $20k+ on a claim. auto insurance isn't an investment.

This thread inspired me to get some quotes before I go out and buy a Z...

Well i'm looking at between $300 and $400 a month. Although I can afford it, I don't think I can really justify it. Is there usually a set deductible for comprehensive and collision when a vehicle is financed? For example, will the financing company say that I have to have no higher than a $500 deductible, or something along those lines? The collision is really the only thing that really jacks up the rate, probably based on the fact that I'm only 20.

I get insurance from Safeco.
Im 36 and have had a perfect driving record for 15 years (never had a accident, and I was 21 when I had my last speeding ticket)

2004 350z Roadster costs me $340 every 6 months. (based on 3k miles a year)
2006 FX35 RWD costs me $480 every 6 months (based on 15k miles a year)

Reason I have the roadster setup for 3k miles a year is because I basicaly only drive it on weekends...

what if you sign up with 3k miles intentionally to get lower insurance prices.. then drive, say, 15k miles. ????? what will they do?

Nothing, but if you get in an accident and it comes out that you've been driving more miles than you're insured for, they'll raise your rates or possibly boot you, depending on the companies policies.

Edit: I work for an insurance company, im Male, 28, married, has a house and the wifes car on the same policy... my ins is 100/month with a clean record. I dunno how you guys with the 4k per year ins policies do it... thats just crazy!

If you're not a broke kid and have some money in the bank and if you are relatively non-accident prone, it pays to have a $1000 deductible. Also, you should have at least 250/500 on your liability and supplementary uninsured/undersinsured motorist coverage. Trust me, it's well worth it. I pay 2200/year with Hartford for this cov'g in NY on my 2006 z.
