Angry This gas may contain 10% Ethanol

Has anyone noticed the gas stations might have 10% ethanol gas mixed in with theirs? My co-worker told me and when I went to fill up I went to 4 different stations and they all started to mix it. So far my car drives fine, but I’m wondering if I’m losing any horsepower. My co-worker has 01 Prelude and when he first tried it, he was complaining about the drive quality. Also that the gas burns faster than normal. We both fill up with 93 of course.

I stay at Chantilly, VA. Has anyone had any problems with the 10% ethanol?

I don't think it makes much of an impact at 90/10.

They are mixing in ethanol because the cost effictivness of it now out weighs putting in the MTBE chems. The only real reason we dont normally use the ethonal is becuase it costs too much to manufacture but with gas prices how they are now its cheaper to use the ethonal. Shouldnt be much difference in performance as far as i know they both do the same job.

MTBE chems -- was just shortening chemical up. they raise the octaine rating in the gas because they are oxygenates

gahh beat me to it

Enough for the IRL to announce that in 2007 the cars will race on 100% ethanol.

I think almost every gas station I've filled up at in WA and CA has had a sign saying that it can contain up to 10% ethanol so it's not like I had a choice or means to compare.

You guys do know that the 10% ethonal reduces the stioch from 14.7 to about 14.1, thus requiring more fuel to acheive the same results as the gas with out ethonal. You will also have to run a bit richer up top also. Have fun with this stuff, I have been dealing with this crap for the past 2 years or so her in NJ
