Default Do you browse the Marketplace Vendor Classifieds section?

As a new vendor, I'm curious about how many people bop over to the Marketplace Vendor Classifieds section of the site.

I'm not so much asking if you buy stuff from there. I'm just wondering if people even LOOK there.

I'm always looking there but I tend to never see anything from vendors that is priced less than you can get it anywhere else on the net. They're (vendors) always posting things like overstock sale! or April specials!...but nothing is ever "special". I want to see a NISMO exhaust for less than $950 and w/out a $150 shipping charge. <---example

look in the marketplace everyday, but rarely find anything on the vendor side that is actually tempting

I had totally forgotten about the marketplace since it was moved out of the main index.

I don't look in there because they mostly don't post PRICES. They want you to call and waste your time just to find out that they are too much.

I browse every so often and have bought a bunch of stuff from vendors there and got some good deals.. very limited interaction since you can't post, though.. everything has to be done via PM.

I look around, but not to much gets posted in there anymore.

+1 on them not putting prices in the threads. That is just a bullshiat way to get people to contact them.

I Browse there When I am ready to Buy or Getting Pricing Information.

If there were a "Hot Deals" section that shops could post clearance or "Priced to move" product, I would probably it hit every day.

I admit I do not post prices in my threads either, because as time marches on, prices can change, but forum threads stay around forever. I don't want someone coming back to me in two years asking for a sale price that's completely outdated. (Neither do I want to have to wander around and update every price I've ever advertised anywhere on the internet.) Instead, I just have a link to the web page, which always has the current price. But I don't make you call.

Note that in many cases the "Call for Price!" thing is because manufacturers have minimum advertised price (MAP) policies, and so if the vendor trys to advertise for less than that, the manufacturer might stop supplying the product. This is perfectly legal. The "Call for price!" approach allows the vendor to sell for less than MAP; they're not advertising the lower price, so they're not breaking the manufacturer's guidelines.
