Just get your break in completed and start using the upper revs.

I adhere to the "other" method. I believe it's more important to seat the rings properly.

BTW is it true that black smoke shoots out of your exhaust when you hit the limiter? A fellow member told me thats what happens.

Dude... don't sweat the rev-limiter. If you aren't hitting the rev-limiter from time to time, you aren't driving fast enough.

Are you serious? These motors can rev plenty beyond 7K, atleast 7.8K, these cars are BUILT to be driven hard. Stop pussying it with your Z and drive it like a damn man. I redline gears every day, even the day I drove it out of the dealership. After 1700 miles, my sh*t is running STRONG. At the rev limiter, timing and fuel is cut so dont even worry about it. Of course, holding it at the rev limiter for anything more than 15 seconds can for sure cause damage, but who that is sane enough would do that? Go out, turn vdc off, and f*ckin let it rip man, this threads a damn joke

He has a non revup. The conrod bolts aren't safe over over 7200RPM.

Aren't some people burning quarts of motor oil maybe because of redlining it constantly? Just my thought...

This one will confuse you

You burn oil when you use engine braking.

WHAT. . . hit the rev limiter every time you decide to open up your car. It was designed for it, utilize it. Do you ever hear people saying dont redline and S2000?

After seeing what the Z cars can handle at ZdayZ, I have been hitting rev-limiter every day. If you are going to drive the car like a puss, get a civic. Put the foot to the floor, and listen to the engine sing. These cars are meant to be fun. Just be careful, because with high R's comes speed. Be responsible, we don't need anymore accidents on the streets!

Lets not confuse "Rev Limiter" and "Red Line".

Touching the red line is ok
Bumping the rev limiter is no so good.

Kolia, I have finally experienced the "fun" that begins @ 5k lol
Wanted to see and feel what the Z's like, so I went up to about 6300 RPMs in 2nd. Wow, this car feels SO different from 5-6+RPMs. The engine makes a crazy noise when I took it out of gear at this speed..probably should've went into 3rd to slow myself down..
It was fun, but I felt guilty afterwards, lol.

Despite all the hoopla about the Z's torque, its still a high revving V6 engine and the fun really doesnt start until the upper RPM's. Dont be scared to rev it up.
