Why? He said he bought it a week ago. It could be his first car. Are you in the business of running off new members?

As for the original question, the manual states 5W30 oil, and most people use synthetic oil. I just changed mine and used Mobil. I'm happy with it.

The tranny fluid should be fine, but if you find out it isn't then replace it with an upgraded synthetic fluid such as Redline or Royal Purple. There is a DIY, but if you're new to the scene or not mechanically inclined, then find a professional to do that for you.

If you look in that thing called a glove box (The storage unit just up from your passenger side) you should find a few booklets called "Owners Manual". This booklet shall become your bible. Read it, and preach it brother!lol

Congratulations on the new car, and I applaud you, seriously, for thinking about maintenance issues right off the bat.

You might try going to a web site called goss-garage.com and look on the left for the buttons for Recommended Services and Recommended Maintenance.

If you want to own your car for an average amount of time, just follow your car's driver's manual. If you want to own your car for a really, really long time almost trouble free, you'll want to change your transmission fluid more often than the manual suggests, and do some other things too. By the way, if you wait until your tranny fluid smells funny and looks worse, you've already waited too long. If the car is an '03 and it hasn't been done yet, you're due.

See the list for recommendations.

With today's technology, it's not unusual to be able to get 150 - 200,000 miles on a car, IF it's well-maintained. You're starting out right to think about these things from the beginning of your ownership.

The most important thing is to make sure you change the oil within the recommended intervals stated in your owners manual. Do that and with the correct weitht oil and you will be fine.

I m not saying the handling is sucks but too many problem. I went to dealership to fix my car more than i drive my car (BRAND NEW ALSO.....) things after things and i ended up sold it. Just too many mechanic problem with Rotary. and dealership charge 75 for oil change?????? no kidding?
