Default Who opted for an extended NISSAN warrenty for thier Z?

I was just wondering how many of you opted for the extended warrenty, how long of a warrenty did you get and for how much.

I personally got the 6 year 75,000 Official Nissian warrenty. And I don't know if the Finance manager was feeding me a line of BS but he said cuz I had "immaculate" credit I got the warrenty for a low low price of $799..

I figured it would be a good peice of mind since its a new model.

BTW- It was -1 this morning and -25 with windchill when I pulled out of my driveway, it felt like I was driving on square tires for about a halfmile with the "SLIP" light blinking non-stop

You need to dump those crap tires. They are SUMMER tires and dangerous in cold climates. Several accidents have been reported on this forum.

Ya I know about the tires.. But its too late in the winter season to spend $$ on new tires.. In a few weeks it should be consistantly in the 40's - I drive VERY carefully with these tires, belive me

I didnt, and on purpose, I plan to modify it, and I plan to void the warrenty, so I figure 3 -5 years is where my mods will void the car warrenty. and luckily normal warrenty is 3 years, and 5 on the drivetrain.

I got the same 6yr/75K warrenty and I paid 988 for it, so looks like you got the better of the two deals....I am also from the Boston area.

I didn't get the 5 or 6 year warranties for $600 or $800 or whatever they were. The std. warranty of 3 yr. and 5 yr. is typical, but, if you got the extended warranty you're essentially betting that you WILL definitely have a $600 - $800 breakdown in years 4 thru 6 or whatever. I bet I don't. But, if I do, I'll just pay it then. Plus, I bet that you can opt to purchase the extended warranty any time before your main warranty expires (eg., if you've been having car troubles all along - in which case I'd probably be getting rid of the car anyway).

I think extended warranties are, for the most part, not needed. The dealer fed me the line, "If Nissan thought their car was that good, they would make a 6-year warranty standard. I just laughed. I told him that, if I thought the car was that bad, I wouldn't be buying it - or at least keeping it that long!

Well the warrenty is actually an upgraded warrenty (platinum package- covers everything) that is better than the standard 36,000. And if at 70,000 miles a peice of my tranny decides to give or my engine makes a funny noise I will get a free rent-a-car and my problem fixed. 1 use and it paid for itself - But overall the peice of mind for 75,000 miles for somebody who has a tendancy to drive "hard" is priceless.. I just sounded like a credit card commerical

I also purchased the 75k mile extented warr. The dealer told me that if I put NISMO mods on the car it will not void it. I think that is pretty priceless. On the otherhand if I decide to get for ex. The Greddy kit then I can cancel the warranty and get my money back for the unused years that are left on it. Not to bad a deal. I paid 900 for mine.

that is questionable... Ive heard lots of differnt things that say it may not be like that. at best I think SOME mods will apply, while others will not. plus you have to realize they will charge you for that "option" of it being warrentied by having higher prices. and possibly cover their *** from blown motors by running less PSI than other companies.

I just dont buy into nismo till I see details and prices.

I got the 5yr/75K warranty with loaner/towing coverage for $495. They even lowered my rate for adding it on. This was at Browns Fairfax Nissan in Fairfax, VA.
