sorry, i havent looked in the forums yet, and i just finished reading the comical yet informative post about 287 vs RevUp, so it inspired me to ask

I was in Ktown in Dallas saturday night hanging out with some friends and a friend of a friend had a Z4. A few guys said the Z4 would kill a 350 Z in handling and in Straightline racing. now i could see the handling as the car is smaller and lighter, but unsure of the straightline.

its a 2.5 liter vs a 3.5 liter. so shouldnt the 350Z win?
yes i know i could research it online, but its so much more fun to read everyones he said/ she said comments

As far as I remember, the 350 will take the 2.5L bmw (0-60 6.x 1/4 15.x), but I don't know about the new 3.0 ones, not sure of their stats.

Any of you guys consider the bimmer when buying the 350z?

 

yeah i was just looking up the 06's the Z4M looks bad ***, haha, 330 hp.
oh and i was going to challenge him to race (huge parking lot), but Ktown is notorious for police.

i had only looked at the G35, S2000, STI and EVO.

wanted the G35, couldnt afford it, loved the all wheel drive and the speed of the STI and the EVO, but did not want to drive another 4 door car

besides the 350Z is the SEXIEST F*CKING car their is under $40k

 

isn't the Z4 cost double as our Z? the next time they say they can smoke your car, just tell them they paid x2 of what you're paying.

I ran into one about a year ago when I was still stationed in San Diego, still had dealer plates on it, it was on the 5S going by Tecolote Rd. Poor guy thought his car was faster than it that yea you should have him if its not the new model.

 

oh good thing this topic came up.. i currently drive a 99 MB SLK230 Sport and my coworker just got a brand new Z4 3.0i and keeps asking me to race him, my a$$ is going get kicked of course, but im keeping my mouth shut.. as soon as i get a Z i will probably race him even for money.. i just dont think the Z4's 215HP/185lbs-ft has a chance on Z's 287HP, also his Z4 is only about 20 lbs lighter.. i really dont race specially on the streets but he's a 5 foot dick!

According to edmunds.com for 2006 BMW Z4:
the 3.0si coupe's specs are 3108 lbs for curb weight, 255hp @ 6600 rpm and 220tq @ 2750 rpm
the 3.0i convert's specs are 3020 lbs for curb weight, 215hp @ 6250 rpm and 185tq @ 2750 rpm
the 3.0si convert's specs are 3086 lbs for curb weight, 255hp @ 6600 rpm and 220tq @ 2750 rpm

the 2005 and under are about 100 lbs lighter for curb weight but are also less powerful (they only had convertibles in 2.5L and 3.0L) so we shouldn't have a problem with them.

if i remember correctly, we can beat the 2.5i and 3.0i but 3.0si's are supposta get very close to our times on the 0-60 and 1/4 miles.. i would think this is going to be a driver's race

 

Thew new 3.0 z4's will smoke our cars stock vs stock. they run mid 13's easy

 

The Z4 doesn't get a sniff of "mid 13's easy"in the quarter. The Z4 M, on the other hand, gets up to 60 in 4.6 and clocks the quarter in 13.2. The 3.0 Z4 long term tester that Car and Driver has gets to 60 in 5.6 and thru the quarter at 14.3 at 98mph. The M starts at 53K and can be optioned up around 58K. The non-M car starts at 41K and can be optioned to 49 thousand American dollars . To each his own, but if I had 50K of car money burning a hole in my pocket, I'd get a gently used 911. But right now I'm feeling pretty damn smug in my '05 enthusiast, bought for 27K. I've had it a year now and still look at it in the driveway every morning before I make coffee.

 

just smoked one on Sunday, coming from my father in laws, rolling start, brand new Z4 3.0 , I considered the Z4, Boxster and finally the Z, The Z4 has a nice front, VERY ugly rear, and I had owned a Boxster already, I believe it has to do with the driver..

 

They aren't that expensive. They are nice fun little cars though. A sure improvement over the Z3. They are pretty quick but not that quick. A 350z shouldnt have any problems handing one it's *** - in a straight line or on a track.

the Z4 would get smoked by a Z28 because the Z28 comes factory supercharged, with 325horses at the crank.

the Z33 would get destroyed by a Z71 because those freaken trucks come with a 12.8 liter diesel engine pushing 415horses/2000lbs of torque at 2500rpms.

the Z3 would get destroyed by a Z33 because the Z33 can corner better and weighs less.

the Z32 can destroy a Z4m becuuase the z32 can have upwards of 500horses to the front wheels just from intake/exhaust.

the Z33 would absolutely own a Z4 because the Z4 weighs about 4100lbs and is rear wheel drive. FWD > RWD on the dirt.
