Default How many years do you plan on keeping your Z?

I know some people get tired of cars with in a year or 2. Not having my Z yet, (ordered silverstone enth 6MT) is this a car that you can tolerate for say 5 yrs? The longest I have had a car was 3 yrs.

I had my last car for 15 years. For this one, I'm going to wait and see what the '05 model year has in store for the Z. If it's a V8, SC or TT, I'll probably trade it in for one of the '05 models.

Generally, we keep cars for 8-10 years. When buying I put a lot of time into the process & make sure I'm getting what I want.
And since I do keep cars for years mechanical reliability is my prime concern. The latter, reliability, is the reason I've become a Japanese manufacturer fan. Consumer reports always seems to have Japanese cars at the top of the list.

I expect the Z to be around here a long time.

Smile FOREVER!

I plan to keep it until the engine dies...and even then I'll just replace the engine (maybe a V8) and just keep driving

I kept my 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo for 10 years. This car had a great deal of potential for mods. The 350Z not so much. It eventually died when it sucked in water from a large puddle in a rain storm hydrolocking the engine at 100,000 miles.

However, if they come out with a Turbo version of the 350Z in a couple of years, who knows. I may very well trade it in for the new model. Or maybe I will be able to afford a new Porsche 911 by that time.

I hope to keep it forever, but over time I plan to make this a race car, and buy a new car that will be more realistic(but still keep the Z). right now, that would be an FX45, but in 5-10 years when I actually do it, who knows.

5-7 years... by that time I'll probably start a family so it'll be time for something with at least 4 seats. My plan was to enjoy my 20's to the fullest, and that's why I bought the car. I can worry about that other stuff later.

Lets see plan to keep it for at least 10yrs. Or the odometer going over 150,000+. I hardly full throttle it or redline it. 2nd oil change using synthetic. I think the engine will last a long time. In your face styling, tight chassis, muscle car acceleration. Damn its all good!

Default 20 years

I still have a 1982 280ZX and she runs great, if the 350z last 20 years and 200,000 miles this will be my last sports car. I expect that will proper care the 350z will make it.

Probably 2 years.

This is a 1st year model and I doubt that it will be quite a s durable as later models.

I'm assuming that Nissan will be releaseing a factory turbo model within 2 years. I'll trade my Z in then and keep the turbo version forever. I look at this 1st 2 years as an oppportunity to learn how to really drive and take care of the Z. I'll then apply that knowledge to the next one which I hope to keep for a very long time.

I am one of those people, although 2 years is about twice as long as I can usually go before I get bored and want something else. For me, getting married was a reason to get 2 new cars a year instead of one. I'm 37 and have gone through 9 used and 15 new cars since I graduated college and turned 21. Usually, I am thinking of what my next car will be while I am signing papers on the one I am buying.

That being said, unless something really kick-azz comes along, I don't see me getting rid of the Z. I have no interest in looking at other cars anymore. I have found my automotive Nirvana!

I ahd my 1990 330z until lady rear ended me last oct, almost 13 years and 140K miles. Was intending to keep it until 200k and beyond. and in case you did not notice it was a first year model of the z and still ran like new. had jsut put new speakers, hu and amp in it last summer. had no intention of geting rid of it even though I could have ordered/bought a new z cash. the car was just running fine and I liked it.
I like the new z fine and barring a lemon type car expect the same kind of longevity with this one. so far so good. no complaints but just 1900 miles. at tsi stage think thsi 350z is better car. time will tell but dependabilty is key. if it runs well and is reliable, I am keeping it. enuf said.

Shhh, don't let my wife here you say things like this. I have her almost convinced that getting the turbo Z when she comes out is a smart financial decision, and not just a matter of power lust ;->

Seriosuly, I know the Z will hold up better then just about any other car, but I know there will be a few things that Nissan makes sure they address in the coming years. More power??? That will be my long term Z .
