You've gotta pull the brake fuse, when you hit the gas and brake at the same time the Z cuts engine power. The fuse will disable this and your brake lights so be sure not to drive without it.

pulling the fuse is a good idea, but you don't have to. When the brake lights come on, it cuts 35% of the power, but you'll still burn fine. This is of course on a 6mt. On an auto, you will have to pull the brake fuse if I'm not mistaken.

btw...it's called a standing burnout. I did a search for you but only came out with 1 informative thread.

I dunno, my 04 auto did hella sweet standing burns. Hit the brake and mash the gas and they just light up like crazy! Haven't been able to do a standing burn on my 06 6MT, I just stall or overcome the brakes and move forward very slowly.

try letting it burn FIRST...even if it rolls forward a bit. Then tap on enough brake to stay in one spot (not mash the brake), and it should be fine... Works for me anyways...

If you wanna see a really nice standing burnout, click on fowlman's sig where the links says "the burn".

I also usually let it roll a bit, I think it's easier that way.

Well...I'd go play with it a bit but my tires are totally bald, it's pouring rain, and I haven't ordered new tires yet...

I think the guy was trying to help you out and you are calling him and every other person that drives an auto a girl?

Is this a tread about doing a standing burnout or are you just trying to be disrespectful?

David,
I heard 'line lock' mentioned in another thread. Being a drag-racing novice, can you enlighten me on what this does? It seems pertinent to the topic at hand.

The line lock allows you to lock only the front brakes. If you are on racing slicks, a complete burn-out is necessary to make the tires sticky.

In fowlman01's "the burn" vid (http://rabbit.circa.ufl.edu/albums/a...altburnout.mpg) and other burnouts that I've seen, I hear this noise that sounds like it's hitting off the rev limiter, is it something else? You can hear it in this vid at 11 seconds when the car starts to move forward.

it is hitting the limiter. You have to keep your foot on the gas and hit the limiter until you let go of the brake, or it'll catch traction and you'll either dart out (not enough brake) or stall (too much brake).
