The stig is the driver who, on top gear, drives the car that they are talking about at the time around the top gear race track in a more performance oriented way over the two main host Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond. These numbers are lap times: basically how fast each car that the stig drives goes aroung the track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqabz...rch=top%20gear do not let his crash fool you. it his first ever.

stig is the guy from top gear that test the cars on the test track. these numbers dopied directly from top gear.com
the numbers are directly from the chart that comes form their show that displays how cars compair to each other.

This list is misleading because it doesn't have the W beside all the times that the stig drove in wet conditions.

That's too bad because I was looking forward to a list like this, but with the W to put it in context.

PS: The Stig is not just one guy. He is a persona that can be replaced with any other driver. He has already been replaced once with a new driver, so the number above also is a combination of 2 different drivers.

i was quite surprised when the rx-8 posted the same time as the Z, cuz it's definately slower. i know it handles well, but not that much better than the Z to compensate for its straight imo.

btw, ur list needs some updating. for example: the Z4 M did 1:26, lotus exige S did 1:25.1 and merc cls 1:26.9

Uh, Z06 is more like $65k. Still the best performance bargain around, considering what it hangs with.

well the track they use favors the better handling Mazda so it doesn't surprise me that it was the same in this case. Longer tracks would allow the Z to put more time on the RX8...

The "Ring" time charts is better guide for comparison IMO...

and the z06 has 65k msrp... with about 10k in mark up on top of that But still a performance bargin

And you mine...Elise must have 1.) been a wet day and/or 2.) been the older euro version with the rover engine.

I think the original stig was on the new top gear for the first or second season, then they annouced that the old stig went away and the new stig (I think they mentioned he was french or something) replaced him.

Top Gear is good for entertainment, but I wouldn't look into the lap times that much. Like has been said, the conditions vary, from dry or perhaps slightly wet, to a complete downpour. Also there are different drivers, some of whom take completely different lines.

Another thing is that some of the lap times they count are not even clean laps.
