I'd pull those overlays off and get it to the dealership to get them replaced before this becomes a bigger issue and Nissan finds a reason to not replace them.

The bottom line on this issue is to simply refrain from gluing any type of film on your headlights. Replacing your headlights when those unwanted hairline cracks begin to appear (on the clear housing) can get very expensive.

if you spray certain things on the headlights if they are hot, the plastic casing just shatters with hairline cracks...
i did it once with an aresol cleaner...

My headlights were ruined by a body shop that spilled buffing compound on the plastic and left it there to etch in. I feel your pain, these things aren't cheap.
My solution was to buy some new lenses and replace them when I do a headlight conversion. I'll post up how it goes...

that happened to my wrx headlights when i baked them to seperate the lenses from the housings. after everything was put back together, i used a medium grit compound and a dewalt buffer to buff the scratches/cracks out. i then proceeded to use a good polish wax on the lights, and built up a nice base coat. i would wax them twice a month, and it kept them looking new. g/ with whatever you do. now i'm kinda scared to do overlays

As someone has already pointed out, the headlight enclosures are polycarbonate ("Lexan"). This is a relatively hard, durable plastic used for may kinds of lenses (including eyeglasses) and clear enclosures. Your home electric meter enclosure is probably polycarbonate.
Polycarbonates are subject to stress cracking when exposed to a number of solvents and propellants.
