I have only owned my Z for about two weeks but yesterday I ran it hard to about 120 mph and the air appeared to shut off completely. Not the fan, but the compressor definitely shut down.

At peak load, 134A systems (that's the modern refrigerant) require about 2.5 HP per ton of refrigeration (1 ton = 12,000 Btu's) Conventional automotive systems are 2.5 to 4 tons. I would estimate our systems at about 3 tons.
So modern aoto A/C systems can add about a 6-10 HP max load. Our system is probably about 7-8 hp peak load.
And BTW, all modern auto A/C systems have some method of dropping out the compressor under heavy accell or WOT, so when you are calling for power, the A/C shuts down.

The Z AC is incredible. I was thinking of getting an underdrive pulley not just because I thought the power would be nice, but because I'll never use the AC to its full potential 
. It's summer here now though, I've been using it a bit more than before 
EDIT I dynoed with the AC on and still ran 233whp, it can't be that much of a pull...?

And the compressor disengages at WOT.
An underdrive pulley for the A/C compressor is kinda silly, IMO. If you want to reduce the compressor load, just raise the temp setting on the A/C control (or turn it off)
