Default Nissan Extended warranty transfer process??

Okay.. so i just got my Z, and it had on it the Nissan Secruity+Plus Silver warranty on it until 2009 or 100k... the guy filled out the transfer card in the back of the teeny book about the warranty in order to transfer it to me. it says on that page that in order to transfer it, you need to cut a check for 35 bones to nissan for "processing" as well as it says on the "transfer certificate" the following:

" This completed tranfer certificate, copies of all maintenence records, change of ownership documents, and the transfer fee as stipulated above should be forwarded to the following address"

yet now im all scared that considering i dont have ALL maintenece records throughout the history of the car that i'm gonna get f'd here.. and what do they mean by "change of ownership documents??".. they want a copy of the new registration or something?? bill of sale??

has anyone done this transfer process either successfully or unsuccessfully and can tell me what happened or what i should do here? I talked to my dealer and they seemed clueless and made it seem like just send in the card and im money.. but im scared im gonna send in the transfer certificate/check, then never hear from nissan again.. only to find out i DONT have the extended warranty on my car when something goes wrong..

any help appreciated (and ya, i searched around a bit on this)..

I have this. I bought the car from my dad so our names are almsot identical. But yea I didnt give them andthing just a check and a copy of my new registration. We even called NNA and the lady we talked to said dont bother with records. The warranty is matched to you/your vin so be sure to follow up!

You can just take it into a Nissan dealership and they'll take care of it for you. Odd that all you had to pay was the transfer fee, when I had the nissan ASP transferred, they also raped me on a $200 "warranty transfer inspection".

see, seems like everyone had a different experience.. i tried telling the nissan dealer to inspect it when i went in for the fuel recall thing, yet they refused to do an inspection (i brought it up a few times and they quickly changed the subject) and said all i should need is my receipt from my recent service.. who knows... where the heck do i even call to check if the warranty has been transferred??

I just mailed the warranty booklet (signed by previous owner and myself), a copy of the bill of sale and the check. I was a bit worried after waiting a couple of weeks, but the new booklet finally showed up after 3 wks. BTW, if all maintenance is performed at the dealer, N/NA has access to the service records...

Hey! thats the best reason I can think of for always going to a Nissan dealer for service. Besides, I trust them much further than all t he quick in and out lube places. I drive all the way back to the dealer I purchased it from -even though there is a dealer closer. They are friendly, reliable and just take a magazine and sit in the lounge for an hour. They are always very punctual, but do require an appointment in advance.
