Re-thinking silverstone... looking at LeMans Sunset
I am almost dead-set on a silverstone 350Z, but just the fact that I see so many SS or silver Z's is making me re-think getting a Z. There is that, and the fact that my dad's, and my sisters car's are both in silver (dads S500, and sisters 325ci). So basically for something different, I am thinking about possibly going for LeMans sunset instead.
silver is the most common color of cars. i got black because i like black, but there are a lot of black Z's out there too.
i rarely see daytona blue, redline, ultra yellow, or brickyard.
if you want to go the silver route, i think the chrome silver stands out from all the other silver cars on the road.

Bought my Silverstone in April and have zero regrets about it bro. I get compliments all the time on it. Yeah there are alot of them on the road but thats because its a damn awesome color.
The darker colors are very difficult to keep clean and to hide swirl marks. I have owned 2 Black cars and will never buy another because its like a part time job keeping them looking good. With the Silverstone its way more difficult to see dirt. Just my 2 cents on the matter you cant go wrong with Silverstone. I do love the other colors though they all look great on the car.
I wouldn't trade my Chrome Silver for any other Z color, other than maybe the Liquid Aluminum silver that was only available for one year...
Sure, CS is the second most common Z color (in a close race with SS), but I love how it shows very little dirt, has a nice deep shine for a silver (if you take care of it and wax once per month like me), and it's second only in the 'classy' category to black... I also like Brickyard, but they are hard to come by...
Redline, Yellow, Lemans, Daytona Blue, etc. are all pretty "sporty" to me, which is cool, but the Z already looks agressive enough, you don't need some bright color IMO to make it appear like a sportscar... I stick with the classy Silvers and/or Black...

However we could DEFINITELY use less Silverstones and Chromesilvers here in Southern California.
Sometimes I'm cruising and I'm like "WTF man?!?!"
The "sporty" colors are a breathe of fresh air, especially if a Z is mostly stock.
I can definitely agree with you NOT getting the silver, but can't say I strongly recommend the LeMans. To me the problem isn't that the silvers are so common, I think silver is a great color for the more elegant style sporty cars, but NOT for a pure Sport's car, I think it kills the effect of the Z.
The Red, Blue, Black or Ultra Yellow are the colors that were made for the Z.
But to each his own, if you really like the Silver, that's all that matters, and judging by what's on the streets, you will have plenty of people that agree with you.

i got a black z. man let me tell you, spending your precious time washing and polishing the car to make it shine and good. and when you go out at night, cruise around. the roadlight shines on your car. it stands out!! people just stares at it.
its UBER *shiver*!!

Ironically, I think the chrome silver looks awesome at night under artificial light. Its during the middle of the day that the sunlight gives it an almost yellow tinge that I am not fond of.
Yeah, I think Silver ranks up there with SuperBlack as far as night-time lighting goes...
I definitely would *not* get Lemans. You see a ton of these 'orange' cars around these days (Pontiac [G6], Dodge [SRT-4], Chevy [Cobalt, Colorado], etc.) but if you plan to keep it for any length of time I think the color may not be so "in" down the road a few years.
Silver, Black, White, Red, Blue are the way to go IMO. In that order.

Let's not make this into a color war because there are no winners. Everyone has their preference in choosing the color they want.... like to stay low key, which is mine. Either way, as long as you love your choice, that's what matters the most.
Good luck on your search. Lemans is definitely one of those unique shades out there.

I have the Lemans with orange leather. I get more compliments on the color, than the actual car! It looks like it is on fire in the sunlight. It does suck that there are "other" less desireable cars out there with similar shades, but show me one color that ISN'T on those cars!
If you're undecided on color, why not try this approach - do an on-line inventory search of nearby dealers, and see which cars are equipped as you want, regardless of color. Then shoot an e-mail and see if you can get a price quote.
When you get a couple prices, then visit the dealers and see what you can do. This late in the model year, you are probably going to get a much better price for something that a dealer has on his lot rather than try to arrange a dealer search 'n' swap.
At some point in this process, probably one car or one dealer is going to stand out to you, and then you'll know that's the way to go.
