No its not even the porsche guys do it so that they can tow a mini traler with extra wheels and tools to the track. I personally wouldnt put it on but if you are a scerious track guy it could proove usefull.

Yes you can, and ignore people that talk **** about it. for 2 years we pulled an enclosed trailer with 2 harleys to the lake (2 hour drive from our house) with a C5 vette and had 0 problems. Alot of people asked why we did it but when you pull a 38' fifthwheel to the lake with your truck you need something else to pull your bikes down and the vette did the job so I don't see why the Z couldn't.

I've seen it done. Was cruising back from a friends place, and on the highway a black z pass me towing a chopper. The Z looked nice, rims and all, and the chopper was freakin sweet also! But I'd never tow anything with my Z.

Anything can be done to pretty much any car, but there are some things that beg the infamous Why Oh Why question...

I saw a Z with a hitch today goin' the opposite way today! I took a double take real fast. Car had stripes and it was towing what appeared to be tires (slicks by my guess).

Its not like sportscars towing things is new. Hell from time to time you even see people rolling up to Lake of The Ozarks with sportscars towing 36' Scarrabs. (we've seen the same 3 couples every year towing their huge *** speedboats to the lake with sportscars since I was 12) That however would strike we as a lil harder on the car than towing 4000lbs with your Z.

As was said above, this is the good use for a trailer on our cars. If I was still going to autox events every other week and had R compound tires, I would do it in a heart beat.

Most of the people calling it redneck have probably never tracked a car to see the need to keep from eating up your expensive and extremely soft treaded tires on the drive to events.
