For this situation, the manual reads, "If Premium is unavailable, fill with regular gasoline in just the needed amount. Then refill the tank completely with Premium as soon as possible"; in my words atleast

In your case, since it is filled with Regular, as others have said too, fill with Prem. as space becomes available. A few fills and it will all be Premium.

that's one thing I dislike about new jersey.... what's up with that stupid law anyway?? when I was there I was like wtf back up off my car beyotch..... are the people there not smart enough to pump their own gas?? anyone know the reason for the law?? I thought it was absurd.

How irritating. If they are going to force people to have their tanks filled by some unfortunate uneducated incompetant fool, the stations should be prepared to compensate people for when he screws the pooch and fills with the wrong gas. Seems like an all around waste of money. What's the protocol when the attendant messes up your car??? Any of you from NJ know?

I would be giving them an earful.

i'm thinking that if the customer doesn't specify which octane to use, the attendant just assumes regular since the cheap-asses who use regular would freak out if they saw 10 gallons of premium in their tank. i agree with the people who mentioned adding 100 to your tank.

true... but I'm more or less referring to a hypothetical situation... like you specify premium and he puts in regular by mistake... or say he scratches your paint.... or breaks your fuel door/cap or anything to that effect....

it would also be really annoying to have someone spill gas all over your paint every time you got gas. I'm glad I'm not in NJ lol....

Depends on location. In the plains and on the coasts, it's 93. Here in the mountain region, it's 91.

what he said, don't even worry about it, regular in my car on a normal basis with a tank of premim every few or so and to be honest I don't even recal exactly y i do that (premium), these threads pop up every now and then and last time i remember I think a tank of premium every now and then is just to keep the engine clean or something like that due to the additives in premim, w/e. Your not gona damage anything and certainly dont listen to ppl telling you not to take it over 4K rpm...thats just silly.

Yeah your engine is designed to run on lower octance it will just retard the timing in certain situations, but unless your tracking the car or towing a boat it likely won't happen to you.

Wow @ some people's overreaction to a simple thing like regular octane. Unless you have some turbos on your Z, then it really won't matter.

Right answer. If the lower octane causes any knocking, the ECU will simsply retard teh timing to correct it. If that happens there will be a very slight loss of performance that you most likely won't even notice.

I'm on the west coast and there's almost no 93 octane available here. I don't think I've seen any 93 in the 1.5 years I've been back in CA.
