Cross Country Z!
Okay... so I have all these vacation days this year and no vacation plan as of yet. I think I'm going to do an international trip in the fall, but would like to plan something else between now and then...
So last night it hits me... I've never seen the left coast... I could make a cross country Z run!!!
Anyone have thoughts on this? How long should I allow for the trip? Can I do it in 10 days (there and back) or should I plan for two weeks?
Would anyone be interested in meeting along the way?
Not sure if I'll do this or not yet, but I thought it sounds fun.

Having made the trip from Charlotte to San Francisco, myself, I'd say three long days to get to the west coast.
But you don't want simply to be driving the entire time. Take two or even three weeks and come out through the southwest, up along the California coast (or along the eastern Sierra), visit the northwest, motor through the Cascades, visit Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, pick up some speed on those straight flat stretches of western road, get back east as fast as you can, drop down the Blue Ridge Parkway, and be safely home.

Andy, I'd be glad to send you off from Charlotte. We could have a "going-away" Z-meet!
That would be fun if you picked out some good highlights to hit along the way to break up the trip. My family took a 9,000 mile trip around the country back in '84. I actually go out to Montana every year or so, but I take a plane. I would definitely recommend taking the Z to either Yellowstone or Glacier National Park. And you'd have to make a run down the Pacific Coast Highway.
One thing's for sure, you could get a lot of thinking done.
