please try downshifting from 4th to 3rd for me!

Seems the tranny in the early production (possible pre- VIN 5000) may have an issue.
Anyone, having problems with their 6MT that have post- VIN 5000?

I downshift all the time (don't use the brakes much), and I've never had even a hint of any gear problems. Everything is very smooth dropping into gear on both upshifts and downshifts. Even fast racing shifts are smooth as glass -- never got a single grind that some folks have mentioned on fast shifts. My 3rd works without a hitch. I also didn't baby the car in break-in. My biggest complaint is the huge clutch travel, but I've gotten used to it.

Mine is still doing minor grinding every once and a while but it seems to be going away and the tranny as a whole is getting much smother... Maybe jsut some weird quirk... I am at around 7400 and it started around 5800
My VIN is in the low 9000's and there's no griding or any problem downshifting from 4 to 3rd. However, I have a pretty big transmission leak and it's coming from the drive shaft area. I am waiting for a new tranny and a drive shaft to get here. Only 900 miles so far.
i have a question that one of you might be able to answer. i should also say that i have no thoughly read the owners manual, but i have a 2004 auto. i downshift using the manual mode every once in a while i was wondering if a. it is ok to do that, i.e. use it as a true manual. second, will it ruin my tranny? also when i do downshift, 5-4,4-3 is smooth, but 3-2 is jumpy and the car jumps a bit and the tech goes up and down real quick, 2-1 is ok also. thanks
VIN 4,240
Downshifting on my tranny is a dream. Only time I have ginded the gears is when I missed a shift, or missed the gate. As far a upshifting, it feels great. Very well defined.
Occasionally 2nd with be a PITA when is cold and grind a tad. Only when it's cold. Once the car is warm is great. Also, I will occasionaly grind into third when RPM's are below 3,000. Alomst like the synchro isn't there. (could be a poor shift on my part, i'm usually not paying attention when it happens). But we're talking about both of this issues happing once a month if that.

Fourth tranny sucked, so I ditched the car and bought an accord v-6. No need to deal with that sh*t. BTW, my Z was an early pre-order.
ps anyone eyeballing the accord v-6 6speed... do it. Youll be happy you did.
