Default Fuel Door Looks Unaligned

Well had the car for almost 7months now. Last night I was puttin in gas ($59/full tank) =(...anyways as I was closing the fuel door I see that it does not sit in flush with the body lines. WTF?? Can it be the heat and humidity? Every week when I wash my car The door stayed flush. Now its stickin out a bit. Will Nissan take care of this for me? Damn nissan and their cheap plastic parts. I guess you get what you pay for.

I noticed the same thing last night after I got home from getting gas for the first time.

I opened the fuel door and noticed the plastic tether that holds the fuel cap was twisted and had formed a loop. So I straightened it out and moved it over a little. Now it seems OK.

In Jersey, we still are not allowed to pump our own gas. So now I gotta watch when the attendant closes the fuel door.

Better to have to straighten the line than lose the gas cap, right?

^^^ Yeah, I think the tether gets in the way sometimes. I noticed my door a bit off at one point but it's not like that any more.

My fuel door does not sit flush with the body as well.

It's been like that since the first day, so it's definitely a design problem.

New Jersey is one of the last states in which we are not "allowed" to fill our own gas tanks. You have to pull up and wait for an attendant to fill your tank and then pay him/her.

My point was that attendants don't care if they spill gas, or not close your fuel door properly, etc. My plastic tether got twisted around and formed a loop. The guy just shut it, and the bulge where the loop formed forced the fuel door away from the body. I did not notice this until I got home.

I agree that there may be a design flaw here.

Yeah it was that little plastic piece that got in the way. But our doors are sooo flimsy and feels so cheap. wish nissan didnt cut corners and put some sturdy fuel doors

I just recently upgraded my fuel door to the Cobra one, it works so much better then the original and no cheap plastic here. Wasn't to happy about all that bling though so I had a shop paint it to match the door handles. It looks really good, I don't see why Nissan made these out of cheap plastic?

"Unaligned", now that is a new word.

Here are your choices:

a) unaligned

b) disaligned

c) misaligned

d) negaligned

e) I don't know which one to pick, they all sound good to me

You should look closely at the front bumper as well, I have noticed on many SS that the bumper doesn't exactly match the rest of the paint job, it may apply to the rear bumper as well, but I haven't really noticed it there.
