Default 350z - hard to achieve more than 600WHP

I've read plenty of articles of supras making 800whp~1500whp.
where are the zs in that range? I know the Vq is relative new, so what's it gonna take to make a 1000WHP 350z?

please step away from the magazine.....

There are already vq motors making over 1500hp. That much hp on a typical street car is a complete waste of time and money.

The new APS Extreme TT is now out, in Georgia. $8,900, but than it says 800 hp, vs the regular APS TT, which as Brigbri and a couple others have up in that area already.

The issue this year as more people push the 600+whp barrier is head lift. 1/2" head studs and other small fixes will likely take care of this. After this is figured out, its a matter of getting snails under the hood to make that power. You cant hit 700whp with the stock Greddy turbo's, and the APS is the basically the same. We now have blocks on the market that can handle 1000whp (sleeved), we have fuel systems capable of handling that power, we have knoledgable tuners, very soon we'll have a Z specific water/meth injection we just need time. In another year or so you'll see many more Z's above 600whp-hopefully with no head lift issues. Maybe by then Turbonetics will have released their Stage 2 kit with some nice capability as well. Patience young grasshoppa...

if you're going to turbo your car, make sure you get a pop charger.

Supras make a bunch of power on stock block. The VQ's can make the same if not more power but they need reinforcement ie; pistons, rods, sleeves, fuel system, etc. Mainly because the supras come out of the factory built for boost and the VQ's aren't.

I agree, it just takes time to get all the "kinks" worked out of the motor. Give it a few years.

Just out of curiosity... how does one use 1000hp? I know this may sound stupid, but if BigBri is shredding tires all the way down the 1/4 mile at 700hp (I forgot what he's pushing exactly), then what will 1000hp do?

you amplify the severity of an *** beating to 99.99% of the cars on the road by 2 train lengths, instead of 1.5 car lengths from a 45mph roll. Everything becomes your food.
