Default Be Warned of Mauro Motorsports !!

I wanted to give everyone a fair warning if you plan to buy parts online from this vendor.
I had an awful time with them.
Here is the chain of events and emails, so you can form your own opinion:

Jun 7
Ordered JIC Y-Pipe from mauromotorsports.com for $389.99 shipped
Received a call the same day, said part is out of stock, due in a couple of
weeks and I can keep my order on hold until they come in, I agree to that.

Jun 21
emails...

Me-
"I'd like to check on the status of my order, 3403. I placed it a
couple weeks ago, and you were out of stock at the time. Just wanted
to check if you may have gotten this part in yet. I tried calling a
few times but no one ever answers."

Them-
"JIC just got them back instock yesterday from overseas, but the new list
price is $468. Your new sale price would be $470 shipped ground.
Let me know if you're still interested and we'll get the order rolling."

Me-
"So, what you are telling me is that I placed an order for this part,
which was NOT listed as a special order item, for $360/$390 shipped.
You were out of stock, and placed my order on hold until they came in,
and now that you got them, you are raising the price of my existing
order by $100 ??? Is that even legal??!?! If you knew there was
going to be a price increase then why wasn't I notified at the time of
my order when I got a call telling me they were out of stock?? Your
website now lists the price of the part as $450, and you are telling
me its $468?? What is going on here?? Now I think I see why you
don't answer your phones."

Them-
"It is completely up to you what you'd like to do with the order. We've done
nothing illegal at all and I do not see how you think that is such. JIC
raised the list prices on these parts which happens all of the time. The
price of materials change and then the MSRP's change along with that. We
were NOT aware of any price changes until we were called by JIC yesterday
about the arriving shipment.
If you look on almost every website on the net you'll notice most have
disclaimers saying that ALL prices are subject to change.. At this point
noone has charged you anything so if you do not want the parts that is fine.
We will cancel the order and you can purchase elsewhere.
As far as what your price was... I have $440 for the y-pipe + $30 shipping,
which comes to $470. I gave you a $19 discount off of the new sale price of
the website which is now $459.99. I understand your frustration, but there's
not much we can do when manufacturers change list prices all the time.
I look forward to your response."

Me-
"Fair enough, but there are other vendors selling the same thing for
even less now. I went to yours because I looked around and found that
you had the best price at the time.

$400
http://www.nyxracing.com/ypipe-wflex...35-p-7109.html

$419 shipped
http://www.hopupracing.com/jicmaststyni.html

$425 shipped
http://intensepower.com/jicmaststy35.html

Your terms state that you offer price matching, so if you are willing
to match these prices then I will still purchase the part from you."

Them-
"The best I can do is the $425 shipped. We have one put aside already for
you over at JIC so all i need to do is make a phone call and get it shipped out.
Let me know if you're still interested.
Thanks again for your understanding."

Me-
"If you can get it shipped today for $425, then I'll take it."

Them-
"It shouldn't be a problem getting it out today."

Jun 22
Me-
"Any word on if the order shipped out yesterday?"

Them-
"Yup..just waiting on tracking from JIC today."

Me-
"Great, thanks.
Do they normally ship UPS?"

Jun 26
Me-
"Any word on that tracking number?"

Jun 29
Me-
"I'd really appreciate a tracking number for this thing, its been a
week now, and I'm hoping to get it by tomorrow so I can get it
installed over this weekend."

Them-
"I e-mailed it a few days ago...UPS tracking. You can also look it up through
the website where you originally received the confirmation e-mail."

note-*He did not send a tracking number until Jun 29*

Them-
"Looks like the delivery date is the 3rd of July."

Me-
"So it just shipped 2 days ago?!? I asked you before I purchased if it
could ship that same day and you told me there was no problem with
that. What's going on here?"

Still waiting on a response and part...
As you can see, a truly wonderful experience. Fair warning for all of you.

Sorry about the headache. Online retailers often list items which they do not have, then string the buyer along with delay after delay. Interesting that a retailer will charge your credit card, then go searching for the item. The only way that I have found to eliminate the We should have it soon problem is to add a note to your order which reads something like this:

If you cannot ship on or before such-and-such date, please cancel my order.

sorry about the crappy experience but stuff like that happens. Unless you get multiple situation like this with one vendor, you outta give them slack, at least once.

I gave them a chance to price match, but there is no excuse for lying to me, saying that the part had already shipped when it had not.

I will give online retailers a bit of a break because their supplier is most likely telling them the same thing that the retailer is telling us, that is; we will have it for you in a couple of weeks. The thing that burns me is charging your credit card before they even have the item.

I say charge when you ship and not before!

they charge you before sourcing the item so they can use your cash to pay for it

When I first got my Z, June of '05, I ordered an exhaust system from them online. Just like wizdumb, I tried to call for a verification of my order, but no one answered their phones or the e-mails. Finally, after a week of trying to get in touch with them through e-mails and phone calls, I got in contact with someone from Mauro Motorsports. It took me a week for them just to tell me that the exhaust that I ordered was out of stock. I went ahead and cancelled my order since I knew it was going to be a long while before I can get in touch with them again. I feel bad for your experience wizdumb, but if it didn't feel right from the get-go, cut off the ties quick!!

online purchase sometimes could be a PITA.
i ordered my Y-pipe from stillen and they shipped it out the same day.

i also dont understand why some vendors would charge a re-stocking fee if they don't even have the stuff in stock....re-stocking WTF?....icon10:

wow! sounds like a similar experience I had with Alteredatmosphere. They didn't change price on me, they basically did not give me what I ordered.

Sales Manager
The sales manager I placed the order with sent me the wrong color wheels on the first order. Instead of Mercury silver, he sent me gun metal. I sent an email asking what happened. He said he would call Volk and see if they have in stock what I wanted. Few days later he said they did not have what I wanted in stock. Hmmmm, that was odd. Couldn't he have found that out the time I placed the order? I demanded a refund since he did not send me the right product. Sales manager said that he would have to charge me 25% restocking fee. WHAT!!!?? I asked. I can understand a restocking fee if I had changed my mind on the RIGHT product, but It wasn't the right wheels to begin with. He wouldn't give me my money back insisting that I give him a chance to make things right. So I agreed.

The sales manager said he would discount the wheels a bit for the trouble. OK. I agreed.

Four months later, they send me the second set of wheels. They are the right color, but wrong offset for the front. Front would not clear brembo brakes. At this point I'm sending him emails asking what happened and that I just want the right wheels. How difficult can that be??? He replies once giving me attitude. As if I was to shut up and take what they give me. I mentioned to him that its not what I ordered from the begining, and that I just want what I've asked for. All I got was a rude email insisting that the offset is not that much of a difference when in reality they will not clear brembo brakes. I helped him see this by sending him some info off volks website. Never heard from him since. No reply, no discount, nada.

Owner
Since the beginning of the mishap I had asked for the owner . Sales staff on the phone kept saying that he was either out or too busy. Four months later, while waiting on the second set of wheels, I decided to try to have a talk with the owner because I'm getting more and more ticked as days go by. I had to have my buddy call and get the owner on the phone because at this point they knew my voice. Once I got the owner on the phone, I explained to him what had happened and my frustration with the first set of wheels. The owner said that they got my wheels in(the second set) and to "try these out and see if they will work" for me. That sounded strange to me, as if they were not the right ones, but maybe I will agree to take those. It's as if he knew it wasn't what I ordered, yet hoping I wouldn't tell the difference.

@ that point I had to call the wheel distributor and ask him what was going on. He wouldn't tell me who made the mistake. So now the distributor placed the order for me and told me I had to wait two months and to deal only with him. OK. I have my fingers crossed. I'm supposed to get the correct front wheels in a week or so. If your buying from Alteredatmosphere, please beware. I learned my lesson. Next time I buy something expensive, It will be through a place where I can go to someone in person.

I finally got the Y-pipe, shipped direct from JIC I think. I'll be sure to post on resellerratings about my experience though. Hope this little thread helps other people avoid some time, money, and stress. I have a feeling that this company is no more than an individual with a website and a cell phone, that he does not answer.

Altered Atmosphere is an actual shop, I've been there and they seem like good guys. Haven't done business with them yet, but nice to hear other's experiences.

Now I just have to get this thing installed...
