I had a 300zx when I was younger and then bought an Xterra in 2000, now the 350. I have always had respect for the 6 cylinder Nissan. I think it's always been the most reliable and torquey motor ever.

I've been a Z fanatic since 1984 when my dad brought home the Z31 Turbo. My father left me responsible for the washing/waxing of the Z till I was old enough to drive and he let me drive during my Sr. year of high school. I could not afford a Z of my own till I was 28.

Bought a new '79 ZX and drove it as my primary car til 1998, paid $10,400.....put 360,000 miles on it, still have it, never had engine work except for three sets on injectors, still runs.....the straight 6 is "awesome", as Datsun said in their advertisements! Remember, David?

Inherited an '83 ZX in 2001.....96,000 miles at the time and 114,000 now. Sticker price was $16,800. Has T-top, digital instrumentation, and power windows that have never been replaced since 1983!!!! Guess they don't make 'em like they use to.

Bought my 2003 350Z in July of the same year. Much, much faster (287hp vs 138hp) than the ZX's but is it as reliable??? Will let you know in 2022.

davidv, the 260 is beautiful. do you still have it??

i was always a fan of nissan. i guess being 19, i didn't get to experiance the datsun z's as much, but now i think they are beautiful. i can remember in the 90s, my cousin had a TT 300zx that i loved..he still has it, but he never drives it and he wont' sell it to me..
he says it'll be a classic one day, and he doesn't want to lose it (which i understand)

Did you have the Pulsar with the "Sport-Bak" that converted it to a station wagon (sort of). I saw one on the highway last year (with The Sport-Bak on!).

I laughed so damn hard, I almost lost control of my Z...it's sooo damn funny looking!!

Hell yeah. My father had a few Z cars when I was little and got the 1990 Nissan Maxima 4DSC when I was in junior high. I've been liking Nissans for a minute. I'm not saying they're the best cars in the wolrd but I wouldn't be embarassed to sport most of their products.

Don't you miss those days? I think my parents had me just to do almost all the chores/maintanence when I got old enough. I used to get up around 3AM to wash my parent's cars. My mom would be all happy to see a clean car when she got up and my Dad would be like "Shid, my car better be clean!" I guess that's what happens when you're the son of a Marine. It was cool though.

I remember those cars David

Do you mean your car lasted thirty years?

Seriously, I had '91 and '94 Nissan pickup trucks, the second one being a 4x4. I thought the Nissan build quality was fairly good but the engines were very dependable.

I've always been a Ford guy since about the time that David got his '74, but when I first saw those "Z" cars in '03 I knew I wanted one! As a newcomer here, I could go on and on. But one thing at a time.

Now I do have one! I have to admit I'm still a little scared because I'm "in transition" from Mustang to "Z" car, but I'm getting more relieved each day as I discover more good than bad . . . these are really great cars!

Thanks,
Joe

Imagine that! My dad was a Marine as well. So was my uncle and grandfather. Marine dads love to just give their kids chores or was it slavery I can't remember

I was a fan of the 300zx before buying the Z, but i was a hardcore honda guy for many years until i made the switch. I definitely do not regret making the purchase at all.

My brother had an 82 280zx and I was hooked. Since then. 85 300zx turbo, 90 240sx, 91 300zx, 76 280z, 2000 Maxima and now the 350Z. As long as the quality and engine reilability holds up, I don't see owning anything other than nissan. P.S. I turned 224,000 miles on my 2000 max this last week.
