If you're worried about heat on black seats, you could tint the windows and use a sun shade in the windshield when parked. Nothing's perfect but that'll help.

The '06 rays can be had on the track model as well, at least in the U.S.

A little offtopic, but what size tires are guys going with when you need new ones. Stock is 245/40/18 on a 9inch wheel, while the rear is 265/35/19 on a 10inch wheel.

I was wondering if a 255/40-18 for the front and 275/35-19 would be an okay combo.

My GT Brembos kicked out a lot of brake dust at first; had to clean my wheels often. After ~4500 miles, it is not bad anymore and pretty much broken in. I still keep up with the cleanings but not as often.

Try this combo, 255/40/18 and 285/35/19. Member usmanasif has this setup and did all the calcs to ensure correct diameter and revolution. I will go with the same setup once my stocks are worn. Try this link that usmanasif posted in a tech thread.

Yeah, I saw his post. That should make a good combo, but with 275s, I'm hoping to save a little money and have a little less understeer.

Thanks for the link for the calculator. It's better than the other one I was using. So what numbers am I actually trying to keep similar to stock, the overall diameter?

No thanks man. One look at the Z was all it took.

I would suggest getting a nice tint on the windows (you don't have to go dark to cool down the interior)

Good luck on your purchase! Post pics when you get it. I picked up a Track, and a part of me wishes I went with the GT, but for what I'm using it for I think I'd rather use the extra money for repairs, brakes and new tires

No flames!

But I would disagree with the new Vette b/c it's at least another 10K and they have tons of problems. I carefully considered that vehicle and priced it out at ~52K with modest options. It also costs more to insure.

Unless you have money to burn, a new well-equipped "Z" is a great choice

As for the seats, although I prefer burnt orange, I am thinking about possibly getting a LeMans sunset with black seats. Reason for this is because an 06 happens to be available with everything I want, but it just has black seats instead of the orange. I think black seats look nice, but I just worry about how hot they can get.

Don't let the black leather seats stop you if you really want that car!

You can get your windows tinted and/or use a windshield sunshade if you are worried about the seats getting too hot when you park your car.

You sound like I did when I was trying to make up my mind about which car to buy. Sometimes ya gotta get what's on the lot while it's still there!

Good luck to you.

(PS I'd get that car if I were you!)

All best, Joe

Will someone ban this kid already? His posts make me want to

JJ350, I commend your choice. The GT is a terrific trim. I love mine to death! High quality tint and a shade, as others have said too, will certainly help with keeping it cool. However, nothing would help with the fact that Z's do get hot inside when parked in the sun. That has to do with the small interior and plenty of trim that lets the heat build up quickly.

I have a Grand Touring, Redline on Black. If you aren't going to put aftermarket rims on the car, then I would stick with it...I've recieved lots of compliments on the rims, some ppl even ask if they're aftermarket. I have had any problems with the black seats...the orange behind the perforation in the seats looks great, it matches with the lighting in the car.

I just with the bose system was an option bc i'm going to switch it out soon. I got a killer deal on my Z bc it was in the lot for awhile. It had about a hundred miles on it, and i got it for $33.9k. The dealer also gave me the Nismo Shocks, Springs, and Sway bars for dealer pricing (roughly 1800 plus 700 something for the install).

You need to keep the diameter as close to stock as possible. When you vary the diameter, it affects your speedometer and the revolutions per mile changes. You are actually going faster or slower that what is reported.

Sorry Bill, I didn't even notice your post above before posting myself!

Heezeyo2o, I just replied to your PM a little while ago. Whichever size you end up choosing, be sure to calculate front/rear ratio and compare to OEM the way I described. Bill also mentioned something I forgot in the PM; your speedo will indeed be off and the calculator will tell you by which % that would be. With 285/35/19 in rear, mine is 2.1% too slow, so when I'm travelling at 70, the speedo shows 68.6. Doesn't bother me much; I have become used to it now and keep it in mine when being "ticket safe" on the highways

Thanks for all the help guys. I have a little better understanding on things now, and will most likely go with the 255/40/18 - 285/35/19 combo.

If I go with that combo though, I'll probably get the Yokohama Advan Sports. I too wanted the PS2s, but I just checked on tirerack and the 285/35/19s cost $411 per tire. A bit too much for me. However for the 275/35/19s, the PS2s are just $318 per tire which is much more competitive with the other brands, so we'll see.

Heezy, I didn't buy from Tire Rack since they don't sell Toyos and also because their prices are always much too high. There are other eTailers worth looking at. I got mine at www.sportcompactonly.com . After they matched another site's price (don't recall its name now) and gave me a 5% discount for being a my350z member, my tires only cost me $986 shipped; a helluva deal by any measure. Call them and ask for Stacy at X116. She's the one who processed my order. The thing with them is, you cannot buy damage insurance through them, but I got that from my dealer for wheels+tires when I got the car, so I didn't really care for it.

Another thing I should mention is that 285 width on '06 rear Rays pushes it out to the very edge; any more and it will rub. So know that all tires are not the same installed width even if numerically they are. So 285/35/19 Toyo T1R (mine) is slimmer than KDW2s in the same exact size (they are known to be chunky). Since I have Toyos, I can only vouch for their trouble-free performance; I have no clue how well other brands would fit. Hope that helps.
