Exactly what I'm talking about! The 600 and 1000 classes are cut-throat, the best this year will probably be overshadowed next year. But just that level of attention and detail makes a better product. 95% won't see or care, but for some of us like you and I it's cool to see.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I hope Rossi can claw back into the championship, he's my hero. I want to be him when I grow up, ha ha ha.

Guys I just got the new car and driver and they tested the 07 G35 sedan 6 speed, and its pretty impressive. Oh and the car had only 250 miles on it when tested.
306hp @ 6800 rpm
268 lb-ft@5200 rpm
7,600 redline
0-60 ..... 5.2 sec
0-100...... 13.1 sed
1/4 ......... 13.9@103
skidpad..... 0.87g
curb weight...3,583lbs
Base price is still around $32,500.
Heres the weird news, this issue has all the cars for 07 in it too, but for some reason they said the 07 Z is unchanged. I guess the changes are too small to be mentioned? Anyways, just wanted to let you guys know.

with a good driver and proper breakin, i'm smelling 13.6@104-105
and when the Z comes out...knock off another 0.2 or 0.3 and add 2-3mph more...muhahaha

I believe in one of the 07 G35 articles it mentions shorter gearing so hopefully that will apply to the Z as well.

This is something that I found out today.
The intake system on the new HR engine's symmeterical air intakes open more as you speed up. So if you floor it off the line the throttle will only open so far and then open more as you car increases in speed. This was done to reduce the shock of WOT off the line and will only go WOT after you have attained at least 30mph.
I don't know how much this will effect the performance but they say it help regulate the intake air so it is more effective.

that kind of sounds like the DBW on the vq35de....except ours closes more, as you approach redline...this one seems to do the opposite...restrict at low RPMs, and open up at redline...

From Nissan's Global Website
Powerpoint internal briefing on the new VQ35HR
http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/DOCU...Engine_Eng.pdf
According to it, one of the reasons for the increase in fuel economy is lowered weight (a good thing).

whats the current Z listed as, from various magazines? about 5.8 0-60?
I can possibly see 4.8 seconds 0-60...but that would be the fastest...anything faster, then the HP #s are lies!

I was reading on another 350Z forum, and one guy there thinks the Z is taking a long time because it needs to be redesigned to fit the larger engine. If you see some of the pictures of the new engine in an engine bay, it looks a lot more cramped than before with the DE. Just hearsay for awhile, though.

that's exactly what i'm thinking as well. although, a sub 5 car would be amazing, and I definitely think it's worth the wait (which is what I'm doing). worst case scenario, i don't like it and look for a leftover 2006, which hopefully there will be one in dec-jan.
