This is what Edmunds got out of an auto 07 G35, imagine the 350!
Class-leading grunt
Five trim levels are offered: G35, G35 Journey, G35x AWD, G35 Sport and G35 Sport with a six-speed manual transmission. Infiniti says the G35 Sport automatic, like our rear-drive test car, will make it the second most popular of the five models. The all-wheel-drive G35x gets a larger piece of the pie because it's popular in the Northeast, while only 10 percent will buy the manual gearbox.
Class-leading thrust
As you would expect from the above paragraph, the G35 blows all 12 doors off its German rivals, while the Lexus matches the Infiniti's performance. Our tester tore up the track with a scorching 0-60-mph run of 5.6 seconds and a quarter-mile performance of 13.9 seconds at 102 mph. The last 330i we tested, which had a six-speed manual, was nearly a second slower in each
test.

Please have 330hp, please have 340hp, please have 350hp.... blah, blah, blah!!!
Let's face it, the Z will be slightly better than the previous year, sneaking it's way up the scale ever so slightly each year here after, slightly increasing in price and moving into the mid to high 40's for a fully loaded version.
Then BAM.... it iwll be a 4000lb V8, totally disgarding the grand touring car it was meant to be.
I say 07' has 320hp max in a GT / Track model... dual intakes, and refined exhaust with a retuned ECU will do that.

Nissan claims that at speed you get +3hp with the VQ35HR although the SAE ratings do not reflect this:
"It is SAE-rated at 306 hp at 6800 rpm and 268 lb-ft at 5200 rpm. Redline moves up to 7200 rpm. The power peak is almost 50 hp above that of the BMW 330i and identical to the Lexus IS 350’s. Infiniti asserts its ram-air intake system contributes another 3 hp, but the SAE standards don’t factor in that effect. The torque curve is tuned to deliver a sense of swelling acceleration, which Infiniti likens to a superbike’s power delivery. Although the power-to-weight ratio isn’t in the same league, when you really get on it the comparison seems apt."

so maybe 310hp is accurate...

i dont think theyve made this claim for any other car.

But seriously though, w/ a slight bump in hp, the claim of shaving a whole second off 0-60 seems pretty bogus to me unless they diet the beast a few hundred lbs if not more. I'm all for a faster Z cuz i'm waiting for the '07, but it's a pretty bold claim.
How fast was the previous G35 sedan? The new G35 S tested by Edmunds.Com came to 5.6 seconds.

Not to say i expect the 07 Z to do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, but didnt the 07 G shave about a second off? And the Horsepower boost was not that great.

hmm let me guess 1/4 mile then. whats the best time quoted on a stock Z ? 13.7? and 5.3 (i think a 04 Z in motor trend)
i would say 13.2+ how bout that?
all of this is based on the assumption that the HR motor isnt rated over 310 in the Z and goes in basically a 2006 body Z with no tweaks ( the heaviest)
if there is anybody restyle i withdraw my guesses![Wink](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
bottomline
ehh yeah i guess it will depend on the car magazine though. ive seen 5.6 and 5.8 for the 2006
i would guess that nissan will probably claim 5 even . like i said just a guess.
