What part of the beltway do you get on? It is 5 lanes each direction at the narrowest point where I get on. It is at some points 8 or more lanes in each direction.

It varies in different parts of town. Where I was at I could have sworn it was only 4 lanes, but I believe it opens up to 5 or more lanes in busier parts of Houston.
I was on the over pass, going over 290, headed North on the Tollway.

I believe you are right about that part. I usually get on after 290 and go South so I don't go the way you mentioned but maybe a couple times a year. When you are headed to the southwest side of town it get to near 16 lanes (8 per side). Just count all the slots at the toll booths.

nitto 555 (275/30's rear) & (235/35 front). I use to run 285/30 rear & 245/35 front. I'm more than likely going to switch back when these tires are worn. The only reason I went smaller was to get a more stretched look for show.

Ride the beltway in the EARLY morning on the Southside.....you wouldn't think there is a speedlimit there!

Great to hear they worked. Those stops on the freeway are scary.

If you had to stop the car so fast:
1)Why you even have time to check your speed (take at least 1 second)
2)Down shift (2 second at least)

Shouldn't you slam on the brake right away? You know what distance you would travel in 3 seconds at 100 mph?

"No skidding": it's not the BBK that causes skidding. It's ur tires and ABS.
"Brake fatigue": you were not even repeatedly using the brake on ur car. How did the brake even get fatique?
If you have ever been in an intense, life threatening situation, you would know that quick shot of adrenaline makes things seem to "slow down". You are 100% focused on the task at hand and can do some amazing things.

You mean I can out run a starving cheetah?
BTW, braking fromo 100+mph requires lots of distance. Maybe his car was under intense, life threatening situation and it was able to stop from 100mph in 10 feet? LOL

+1. I've been on that stretch of highway. It's pretty desolate out there.

I didn't say you could break the laws of physics numb nuts.
I guarantee he had time to down shift, check speed and brake at the same time.
