Default parking the Z when its 100 degrees

2 questions about the extreme heat:

1) is it better to park in the shade under a tree and get sap and bird poop on you car or park in the sun with a sun shade in the window and let your car bake in the sun?

2) is a black car really hotter that a white or silver car or is that a myth. I purchased a Magnetic Black Z and with this global warming and all, maybe I should have gotten a different color.

Don't worry about it . . . we live with 100 degree heat all the time in South Texas and the Zs are doing fine. Tint & windshield cover will help. If you want your car away from the sun, find a shade. If a shade is not available, get a car cover. BTW, black will absorb heat more than lighter colors . . .

I believe the car color theory is just myth, with regards to the outside color. I black car may absord more heat externally than a white car, but really matters is how cool it is on the inside. After all, we sit in the driver's seat not the hood. Get your windows tinted and get a windshield cover. You'll be fine.

window cover really helps along with tint...as for the color....well black does absorb more energy but not enough to notice inside your car. also, you might want to crack your windows a tad bit to let some air flow thru....of course only do this if parking in a place that's safe!

I have just learned why some folks shy away from an Aluminum Shift **** this summer... HOT!

BTW..

The Black will heat up Quicker and continue to absorb heat at a faster pace, increasing the load on your AC.. But not by much..

I have a SB. I keep my ti frame sunglasses in the holder and they do burn my ears sometimes!

Sun shield and tint helps. I also like to auto roll the windows down with the remote as soon as I'm within range walking back to the car. Gives it a chance to vent before I get in.

Try to pick a 'clean' tree, if possible. For example, Oaks, Black Olives, and Ficus trees are very sappy/dirty. But palms are very clean. The canopy isn't as thick, but they filter most of the harmful rays. My parking lot has all of the above.

It might be a myth but I still think lighter colored cars stay cooler. When I had a black car, I couldn't touch the paint on a hot day, but in my silver car I can. You would figure some of this heat will migrate to the cabin.

My previous car was white and i must say black does absorb more heat. Tint does definitely help with interior temps, i got mine tinted last year and have noticed a drop in temps. Watch out for the shift ****, the stock one isnt terrible, but i have the full nismo TI shift ****, and if its been sitting in the sun i literally cant touch it with my hands for 20 minutes. I use a baseball hat to place over the shifter so it wont absorb direct sunlight... i also agree cracking your windows helps a lot, but be careful of the parking location.

No no no no, stay away from tree sap and bird poop at all costs! It's horrible for the paint, especially the clearcoat!

Yes it is better to park the car in the shade. Black absorbs the suns rays. White reflects them. But I wouldn’t worry about it too much.: at 100 degrees the car is going to be crazy hot no matter what.

Here are my thoughts after owning 21+ cars in almost 40 years driving, lighter color interiors are somewhat cooler in the heat and seem to affect the temps in the interior more the the exterior color.
Also I park facing away from the sun. Seems like if the sun is shining in through the side or back window, it helps keep the car cooler. Could be just my imagination also.

i would have to say that once you get above 90, the interior of the car is going to be crotch pot cooking hot no matter what the car's color is.

that kind of heat will not do damage to the car. about the worst thing would be over time in direct sunrays, without a protective coat of wax or so, the fiberglass parts of the car would tend to fade, i.e. the bumper and side mirror housing.

final note: worst thing about the heat and the car interior....the metal pedals and my bare foot driving. HOT!!!!!

(i tend to wear flip flops and cant drive in those)

I park away from trees or anything else overhead (like electric wires). seems like everytime I park under something I get sap, bird do, or something on the car.

So I opt for sun; it makes the car hotter when first starting but not a biggie.
Sun will not hurt paint (at least for short periods) but I do keep lots of wax on it.
