That was the thing keeping me from getting the vert. I also think the current convertible doesn't look as good as it could with the top up, but those few months you can drive around with the top down, it's damn sexy. I still look at the SC430s, but they aren't the car sportiness wise the Z is.

yeah you're right, Nissan matched Chevy's Camaro that's a 5.7 V8's HP in a 3.5 V6 plus faster Ets and a pretty darn good handling car from the factory
no offense to any ZR owners, but the convertible top really ruins the curve of the z but gotta be honest, with the top down, that thang is f-ing sexy. I would get a hardtop convertible z if there is....
Perception is all in the eye of the beholder, but I don't qet this "ruin the curve of the Z" thing. I think my car looks great top up or top down. It looks like a roadster, which is what it is. Anyway, only time the top is up is when it's in my garage or on the rare occasion when it's either raining or just too unbearably hot to have the top down. That's less than 10% of the time, for sure.
So if you're judging looks, then judge by the looks of it when the top is down, since I'm guessing for most of us that's how we drive them most of the time.
That said, buy what you like. Driving a top-open car is a very different feeling from driving a coupe. You either like that or you don't. There's no better or worse to it; totally personal preference.
Stupidest thing in the world is to make a buying decision based on what you *think* other people will think about the looks of your car. Your car, your money, your choice. Pretty simple.
