Members may disagree, but the 350Z in the snow is about stupid. Every winter we have members smashing into poles. VDC or TSC or whatever.

Agreed. Unless you put snow tires on thin rims, the Z's 245's just won't cut the snow and provide enough pressure to get traction.

Well you are being rude. I have no experience driving a z or any other car with traction control in snow. I put snow tires on my 04 base and it doesn’t make a darn bit of difference. I’m thinking that I either get rid of the Z which I love or buy something else so that driving in the winter is a bit easier. I’m asking for input from others that have this model z.
In this forum you're either going to get flamed unmercifully for asking one of the 100 Most FAQs, or they're gonna jump on you for not using the search function before asking. Long story short, the stock Potenzas are useless in inclement weather. Get yourself a decent all-weather radial <and maybe a beater car> and you should be fine.

^^^

Somebody mastered the meaning of the forums!!!

Also in all honesty I believe the names "Traction Control" and "Limited Slip Diff" kind of tell you what they do in a way.

All I was looking for was a real world, real life response to my question. Such as “even with traction control and a limited slip rear I couldn’t get up my driveway in Oregon in the snow”. Real experience, not an opinion or general technical information.

I don’t want a beater. I already have three cars and don’t want to add another. I can just take the train in severe conditions, though it’s a lot longer of a commute. The base Z is bad in the snow evgen with snow tires but I am able to drive it if I have to. I was thinking that traction control, a limited slip rear and snow tires would be a decent improvement driving in bad weather. I just have no real world experience with these features in a car.

And for those of us that do drive our z’s in the winter, why not? My Z is not a garage queen, it’s my daily driver. The z is a very nice car but I don’t get all the special treatment, no offense, maybe in twenty years. There are plenty of Zs around if I need another. Drive it and enjoy it, buy another if you have to. My Alfa takes my garage space. There’s only a few of them around and not many in the condition mine is in.

It was a simple, sincere question, that’s all.

Don't sweat it.

IMO your Base is not better or worse off than a model with LSD/VDC in the snow. Once the car starts sliding those won't help. Keep the Base.
