STi's are awesome cars. NO ONE IS DOUBTING YOU GUYS AT CLUBWRX.NET
But seriously, the look of the STi is an acquired taste. I've had mothers driving their kids in SUV's stick their heads out of the window and yell "nice car" while I'm doing my groceries.
The STi is a performance MACHINE that will most likely eat the Z stock vs. stock. But it is possible, again, to make the Z pretty powerful. And the Z is not "slow . . . . " it's only slow compared to HIGH END cars such as STi's, Evo's, M3's, etc. Against most things out their, the Z is still pretty fast.
So no one doubts the power of the WRX's, it's just that most of us thinks it looks HORRIBLE, and that we'd rather have the Z because well . . . . hey, it's too damned sexy to pass.
Peace

Eh . . . . my good friend who taught me how to drive a stick has a 05 Mustang GT.
I love that car, it's an awesome ride. Doesn't handle like the Z, but boy can you feel that torque and power.
Kinda reminds me of all the GT haters here as well . . . . . seriously, people buy different cars for different reasons. Why should I hate the STi or the GT is beyond me . . . I didn't buy the GT because it's A) too expensive, B) Uglier IMHO, C) new gen of American Muscle cars . . . which I was never into.
I didn't buy a STi/EVO because A) bad quality paint/interior, B) i don't like the sound, C) I think is ugly, D) wanted a coupe, E) no interest in rallying
I didn't buy a s2000 because A) pretty, but uglier than the Z IMO, B) no torque, C) too expensive IMO.
As you see, I love all of these cars I listed above, but ultimately the Z was what fit my budget, needs, and wants the most.
Peace

The BMW M3 certainly qualifies as TRULY being a HIGH END CAR.
I believe we've all reached an agreement that the STi and Evo are butt-ugly (see picture)
AND not worthy of our consideration (or our money)....So let's close this damn thread...WOOOO HOOO!!!!!

To each his or her own, is my motto! I DO get a lil pissed when people trash the Z, however...Hence my commentary.

Whoever said the Evo and the STi are "High End" cars and placed it with the M3 must be joking. They're performance vehicles, but not even true sports cars like the Z cars or the S2000. I just don't understand why every other car owner likes to compare their car with the 350Z for some reason. Do we own a car that is some popular benchmark to go up against?? Ironic, when 99% of them seem to put us off as "slow". I can see the connection if people want to compare an STi to an Evo, or a 350Z to an S2000, but a 350Z to an STi is about as different as you can get on four wheels. And I totally agree about the thread lock. This should have been locked by the first post.

It is true, the STI is not that famous as Z cars in American!!!
But in asia, they started making STI & EVO since 92' or 93". Everyone there know and like the STI & EVO much more than the Z'!!!!!!!!!!

That seems hard to believe considering the 240Z came out in 1974...

My friend has an Evo. We raced twice and we were even the first race and i pulled a little bit the second. He has a stage 2 or 3 clutch to boot.
I personally love Sti's and Evos. In fact i love a lot of different cars and give them respect if they arent tools like some of you on this site and that other site.

well you have to admit for 30k you get an awd 300hp/300torque sti, its an awesome deal. its true these 2 cars can't be compared they are completely different. if any of you guys have actually sat in an sti or evo, it feels like your getting punched in the stomach when that thing takes off
