Default Stoptech Brake Test on Z

http://www.zeckhausen.com/Testing_Brakes.htm

Thought you guys would be interested in this. I think it shows the Brembos are pretty capable on their own. In my experience, change pads and get some cold air in there before dropping $5k on a brake kit.

On my M5 I pulled the driving lights and installed ducting.

Thnx for the link, very useful.

IMO - With the extra money you pay for the track model, It would probably be a better idea to get the touring model (performance, enthusiast, base) and add the Stoptech's since they match the stopping performance and then some.

yeah they help some, but of course rims are about 3000$, and youll only recoupe maybe 1000 of that when you sell your stock rims, so 2000 on rims, 3000 on brakes... thats a bit more than the 900$ premium on the track from touring.

not that Im complaining, I own a touring and wouldnt have it any other way.

Good post. GREAT effort! As I have previously stated, I am THOROUGHLY satisfied with my StopTech 355mm Front Big Brake Kit!
I have put these brakes to test on numerous occasions since installing them several months ago! And my personal experience is as follows:
Damn near ZERO fade from heat and stops on a dime..CONSITENTLY!
COOLS down VERY fast!
THEY LOOK BAD ***!!!

Basically one expression sums up most peoples response.........

Thanks for the post. Interesting data. I know they ran out of test time, but I wonder how much difference the lighter weight Volks CN28 wheels made to braking performance with the Stop-Techs, and wonder what rubber was being run on the Volks -- that could've accounted for some of the improvement. What brand and size rubber was being used?

I would pay far more attention to temperature rather than stopping distances. You should ONLY get brakes like these if you track your car or just want to look good. You don't stop on a track and most of us don't really brake at the last possible second for every corner either. What matters most is that at the end of a day of hard track use or just the end of a session you have stiff pedal and no fade.
