Default New Z Owner- Love this race car!

Hello. I just purchased this Z this past weekend and raced it with NASA up at VIR. I was very impressed with it's consistency and overall performance. We won our class (1st place out of 1) and ran the 4th fastest time of the race on Sunday out of nearly 60 cars. I'm racing it this weekend with SCCA down at Daytona.

you won first place out of 1 car? i guess another way you can say is, "I came in last place out of 1 car"?

Hmmmmm.....a Z versus a non-Z06 Corvette.
I would put my money on the Z-track edition.
It is a beautiful car though!

That is just my 2 cents. I am looking to enjoy mine on the track in September.

Thanks! I also have a Noble that I ran in the One Lap of America and an E55 that I've done some drag racing with (10.95 seconds). I've been quite impressed with the competitiveness of the Grand Am Z's and am looking forward to representing on the track.

Road and Track just ran a comparo Z06 Corvette, Ford GT and Viper on a 3.48 mile FIA high speed circuit and rated the Viper best on the track. I was a bit suprised.

No add-ons for me. It's built to Grand Am Cup spec and that's the series we eventually want to run it in. Thanks for the welcome!

Default new race car

Congratulations on the new race car. It appears that your car might be illegal in SCCA T-2 but could be legal in GT-3. The hood pins arent allowed in T-2 and your tires may be sticking out beyone the fenders in the rear which is also not allowed. We will be at VIR for the national on 12 - 13 August.

Did I see pics of your car running with the Thunder group (mustangs, Factory Five Cobras, etc).
What class did you run in?

Merlot, thanks for the heads up. I was thinking I'd need to run in GT-2 but it wouldn't be really competitive. GT-3 would be better but being new to this, I'm not very knowledgeable on classing at all. We will be at VIR for the 12-13.

Mpowers, yes I ran with Thunder. There were a lot of fast cars out there. They staged us by class the first day so I was dead last. We missed the grid call on Sunday so again, I was dead last. Getting a bit more racing time on Sunday allowed us to move from last to 15th. We ran the 4th fastest time of the race from the back. Next time we won't miss the grid call.

So you were in no class? Just running for the fun of it?

Nice car! Was it a former Performance Nissan/Unitech race car?

If so, it's a well prepped car with lots of modifications. I'd love to see the specs on that car (weight, power, suspension, etc...)

More pictures, including the inside would be swell!

Yes, I believe it was a former Performance Nissan/Unitech car. I ran it in the new Performance Touring Class but was the only participant. I'm working on pictures.
