Police problems with clear reflectors?
#21
I think the clear reflectors work better IMO. I also have hyper white turns in the rear which can barely be seen during the day but shine like hell at night and never had a problem...Even when I was pulled over for speeding the officer said nothing about them. But he was pretty cool.

I know for sure is federal law that requires the amber reflectors and lights at the front, but having a black car myself I understand your pain. Although my car is of a different brand I bought some covers that are body colored and put those in. The car looks so much better now with such a simple change. You can always have a body shop fill the holes and match the paint color of your car to make it look factory clean.

I think it's a state-by-state thing.
I've had my white frosted ones in for better than a year.
From the CA VC:
Color of Lamps and Reflectors
25950. This section applies to the color of lamps and to any reflector exhibiting or reflecting perceptible light of 0.05 candela or more per foot-candle of incident illumination. Unless provided otherwise, the color of lamps and reflectors upon a vehicle shall be as follows:
(a) The emitted light from all lamps and the reflected light from all reflectors, visible from in front of a vehicle, shall be white or yellow, except as follows: ... blah blah blah ...

I think you'll be ok, especially if you keep the amber strip in the headlights.
I had this happen in my Prelude. Sidemarkers were clear, but I had LED's in them and they had a bluish tint and I got a tkt for "unauthorized" blue lights.

However, since it was hyper-white, it had a very very light blueish tint to it. Long story short, he got pulled over on I-95 by a female cop because "only cops are allowed to have blue lights." It wasn't even blue...! It was a small light in the license plate and it was a liiiight blue hyper-white... just like the '06 halogen headlights!

The problem here in Colorado is that some criminals have been running around masquerading as cops using flashing lights on plain wraper cars. They've tried to assault and rob victims (usually women) at night and this is a legit reason why there is concern with the colors. I've had the white side reflectors on my '03 Redline and never had a problem with being hassled for it. But ANYONE caught with flashing white or blue lights visible from the front of their car is going to be up against it!

You'd have to be a FOOL to falsely label that as a cop, and if you are, you shouldn't be on the road to begin with.
