Exhaust Flames

yeah to get flames from the engine to the tail, your cat would have to be toast. also high octane fuel, like 104 or higher can help, it wont burn well in the chamber but with enough heat can ignite in the oxegen rich atmosphere. hence why you dont want to run race fuel on a car with a cat.

Thnx for the numerous feedback guys. I actually went down to a performance shop in santan monica and did research myself.
They told it is possible to control how vibrant the flames are and how lethal they can be. He told me there are kits available from japan that will blow out soft, (dont know what he meant by that), bluish flames.
He also said that this is popular with alot ofjapanese car such as the supra and the skyline. Hence the infamous "fast and furious" race scene.

Just kidding - the phrase "burning his ***" in a thread about flames just struck me as funny.

I also saw that TNN Trucks episode where that dude installed the system in an older truck. It was just a sparkplug that was installed in the tailpipe, and when activated it would simply ignite the unburned fuel in the exhaust.
I bet their isn't enough fuel in the Zs exhaust to make flames, but I do think it's kinda cool. In a 50's musclecar kinda way.
-D'oh!
