did you... check the oil? then ask yourself did you let the oil settle before you checked it? then hope you have warranty after that

the oil is low and when you take a sharp turn it trips the sensor cause the oil moves around...you need oil man.

yup, check your oil level. Let it cool 15 minutes before you check it.
Mine was doing that last week and it turns out that I'm losing oil.
This is on a month old '06

Yup, +1000 on all the above.

Tip: Pull out the dipstick and let the oil settle for 15 min, then reinsert dipstick and remove for the most acurate reading.

You're losing oil on an '06? Damn. How can a new car lose oil? Driving hard? Just wondering. I have an '04 and have no problems with oil level.

Some Z's come standard with oil-eating gremlins. You never know if you have one until you have a few miles on your Z...

It looks like i'm one of the unlucky ones. I don't drive my car hard at all so oil consumption is not any fault of mine. I've had several new cars and this is the first time I've ever had to take a car in...
I'm really bummed that I have a brand new car that's consuming oil.

Do as all the above said: check ur oil!

It's a wonder they haven't put in an oil level sensor rather than just the out of oil sensor. Seems it would save a lot of engines; non-mechanically inclined / knowledgeable people.

Well since my Mercedes has NO DIPSTICK it does have such a gadget and it the readings are available to the driver.

I guess I should have mentioned how long I looked for the stupid dipstick.

Don't use the dip stick to check your oil. That thing pretty much sucks @$$. Doesn't tell me damn thing. When I change my oil & filter, I just put in 5 qts and call it done. Always go by the manual. Anyone else have this problem? what's the fix for that?

The dipstick is one of the worst automotive dipsticks I've encountered. That awkard bend is what does it for me at least. I put in my 5 qts, check it once or twice and get frustrated, then start 'er up to make sure I've got pressure, etc.

The dipstick may be a little awkward and all, but its still a pretty important safety measure to check your oil, and the dipstick will get the job done.

Always keep ur eye on the pressure. When you change your oil, put in 5 quarts, change the filter and your good. If you drive it hard, check your fluid level every 1,500 miles.

If your oil light comes on add oil. When the vehicle makes sharp turns the oil moves to one side causing it to throw that light if you dont have enough fluid. There is a solution to this, you can buy a oil pan with a built in baffle which will keep the oil from moving around. Or just add oil until you get to the proper level.
