Whats going to happen to the Z in the GT500 series when the GTR comes out?
as title, would Nissan place the GTR on for the GT500 series to replace the current 350Z race car? or would both of them go on?

good question. my guess is they will switch to GT-R Hopefully as early as the 2008 season. there is so much heritage involved with JGTC now super GT and the GT-R. i couldnt picture the GT-R back in production but out of japanese racing.
im not sure about the AWD issue though. as you know i believe the rules are you can run AWD but there is a penalty. someone else who know more can chime in on how that would work
wouldnt it be awesome to see something like this?

anyways, but just for comparsion...i seriously doubt that the upcoming GT-R tuned for the Super GT will outrun the current 350Z GT500 racing car by a big margin..im pretty sure the tuners did what they can possibly do at this stage.

i would agree. i GT500 Z is a racecar its not like it shares alot of our Z's components anyway with the 3.2TT VQ and sequential gearbox. i would thing with the GT-R most likely getting someform of the VQ all of their R&D would carry over nicely

Nice renderings
I'm sure GT-R will replace the Z once it comes out.
It would be interesting what Nissan will do on Super GT
when the new Z comes out not too long after the GT-R's debut.
All this thread makes me think,
If the GT-R never ceased production and kept on upgrading(or if Nissan had released a new GT-R during this time period),
would the Z33 have still replaced GT-R as their GT car during 2002-present?

I don't think any other part has to be from the original production vehicle. So what you end up with is a pure race car that really doesn't have anything to do with the car it represents.
