I think we are looking at these road tests the wrong way; We should take it as a compliment that the Z is kind of used as the "yardstick" to measure the competition...

I've seen the Z in more 'road tests' or 'shootout' articles that pretty much any other car in recent history...

It's even more impressive that most of the time they are comparing the Z to more expensive cars... And the less expensive cars they compare the Z too are just... well... Cheap!

I'm happy with my Z, no complaints really. just found it interesting and thought I'd share how our roadster fairs against some of the competition. Or maybe I work for motor trend and I'm promoting this months issue

If you work for MT you're lucky. I wish I was around cars and talking cars all day long.

Is it just me or do the Z4's and Soltice's look super tiny. The Z looks more fully sized to me.

They are super tiny. I have sat in the Z4 and it feels mega cramped.

Didnt lose by much and came in 2nd place out of 5 cars

1) Honda S2000
2) Nissan 350ZR Touring
3) Porsche Boxster
4) BMW Z4 3.0
5) Audi TT Quattro

Really depends on the magazine you read, some put the 350ZR high on its list others put it at the bottom... In this reveiw the Z4 didnt come close to the 350ZR..

BTW, the other cars are freakin small, being im 6'4 I can't even sit in these other cars... One of the reasons the 350z does weigh so much is because its bigger then the competition, which allows us taller guys to actually own one Gotta remember the Z shares its platform with G35, M35/45, and the FX35,45 these are not small vehicles..

I think its good that Z is getting lower ratings in MT mag. That means there will be less people buying it, and our cars will keep its uniqueness.

I'm afraid that's not quite true. The Z regardless of mag testings is one of the most popular car of it's kind and i see too many of them on the road everyday as it is. It's gonly gonna get more popular...

Good luck finding a GXP for anything close to $30K.

The only other car I considered when buying my Z was a slightly used ('03 with 12K miles) SLK32. I liked the hardtop roadster, the fact that it's a Mercedes and the 349HP motor. But, I just couldn't buy a car with a slushbox, even if it is a 5 speed.

For some, however, the Nissan Z is too hard-core for the daily grind, with a harsh highway ride and an interior that lacks finesse. In the end, its high as-tested price and its questionable comfort dropped it to third place.
The only reason they scored it last is because it is too hard-core. Looks like these reviewers were rating these cars based on daily-driveability.

Yes, they are right in saying that the Z is not the most comfortable car of the bunch to drive everyday. However, I rather enjoy the rougher ride; It gives me more feel for the road and more confidence behind the wheel because I can feel what my car is doing.

If you are looking to buy a cruiser sports car, the Mustang would be the better buy. However, if the review had been based both on daily-driveability and true-sports car...ness... I am confident the Z would have rated better.

You know what I think really hurts the Z in these tests is the RE040s. I mean honestly how many stock Zs are on this board. With the Nismo suspension and 19" RE050As my car feels like a different beast all together.

Those are all professional drivers testing those out (or at least have some skill). Most of the people driving those cars would have an automatic so I wouldnt even worry about any of those 0-60 times. The majority of the people who drive Z's know how to drive a car.
