Should I get a 350z?

Edit: to gabez33. Haha I wish I could say the same, but I can't really go out with anyone unless my grandmother approves. And its hard to find someone that I like, that my grandmother would like too. Not to mention not too many girls my age would have the patience to deal with her. I have to respect her wishes though...she did raise me.
Oh and the most important thing. How is the trunk space? I need to be able to fit my golf clubs in there 24/7, and so a moderate size trunk is important.

Ha HA!! with that said, you need to go ahead and get the Z...I remember when I first bought my Z and open the hatch, the first thing I saw was a sticker telling me "hot to put my golf clubs in the Z" it was comical
Get the Z and be careful for God's sake. I had an S10 with a 4.3Vortec when I was 17 and I had to do a 360 on wet pavement, by accident until I realized I was a stupid little kid and that I should slow down.
Get it, enjoy it but be careful.

even though everyone is saying how responsible you should be when driving the Z, you will gun it a lot. Why would you even buy a Z if all your going to do is pu$$y foot around town? This brings me to my next point. You probably shouldnt buy the Z because even people paying their own hard earned money for a Z wreck them. And im not saying you do not deserve the car or anything like that, but even people with a lot of expierence driving these cars in rain/snow/dry conditions spin out or crash.
If you get one enjoy and be careful.

Alright, Frost44; I don't know if my opinion will be any more or less helpful than what's already posted up, but let me introduce myself.
I'm 19, I live in California and my first car was a '06 Scion TC. No options, just base, so the car itself was $17.5k-ish. nearly $20k with insurance and etc.
I am also korean and my dad is extremely strict with alot of the things I do. Ranging from what I eat, how I spend my money, the girls/friends I spend time with, what job I have, etc.
I've also had my share of experiences with smoking, drugs, drinking, etc. probably due to influence of friends.
Needless to say, I have'nt touched any of that for 2 and 1/2 years now due to my loving gf. So when I became 18 and came my time to own a car, my dad had already decided he was not going above 20k, so unlike you; I did not have the luxury of making a choice between Car A and Car B. Just 2 days ago I posted up on these forums for advice with nearly the same problem
except, different in some ways.
I can safely say in my honest opinion, a 350z is too much for your first car. How can I say this?
Because I in fact totaled my Scion TC in 6 months upon getting it... If you want to see my post for reference and my problem or other older peoples helpful opinions visit this post https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/212978-your-opinion-on-my-350z-situation.html. Anywho, when it comes down to it... after my accident, there was nothing really to say. I was as responsible as I could have been and took care of my car very well and my dad trusted me, but in the end I totaled my car regardless due to somebody elses incredibly retarded mistake.
The first time I got the car some idiot keyed the side which i then had to fix and got a hit and run in a parking lot which dented my front fender, then I out of inexperience scratched my rims due to parallel parking, reverse parking, and etc. During that time and during the time that I've been lugging around this rent-a-car, I've learned alot about just.. cars and how life treats you sometimes, and even up til now I require helpful opinions and etc. from older people. (Like the ones of these forums). Basically some key reasons not to get a Z in my opinion:
1: your young, and kids in highschool can be really immature, and I'm nearly 60-70% sure someone will key/scratch your car.
2: girls should'nt be an issue for you if you already have a girlfriend that your grandma approves of, and if she really does have feelings for you, she will understand the choice you made and not go hop to some other guy who might have a better car.
3: all in all **** can happen, and when you're older you'll have more control of your life; even I don't yet so that's my opinion.

Get the Tc! It's a nice car and being young you're going to want more than one passenger and more storage space. Also, as a first car you will make misstakes and the Z isn't a car to make them in.
I have to say that I respect you. You seem to be responsible and have alot going for you in school and life. I feel like you should be able to get a Z and enjoy it but I have to say that before that you should take some driving courses i know that there are some available and they teach you how to really handle a car not just drivers education. These type of courses will prepare you for the Z.
As for me Im 18 and when i turned 16 my first car was a 3rd gen RS Eclipse with 147Hp and im happy it was because i drove that car like i stole it. I dont want to even think what could have happened if i had the Z from the start. Like you I dont do drugs at all and i rarely drink (never drink and drive) . I feel that you are probably more responsible then i was at that age and you seem to be level headed.
My only concern is that you will start to speed because of people wanting to race you or people talking at school. And believe me its much easier to fall victim to the peer pressure to speed rather then do drugs or drink. All and all I think you should probably practice driving your dads G35 with him in the car and have him teach u the ropes (meaning driving defensive and aggresive) this should properly prepare you for the Z and could be a bonding experience. I wish you luck and most all BE SAFE because you seem like to good of a kid to die.

your 15 and looking at the Z?
Go look somewhere else, or else... you dont wanna know.

That happened to me due to a minor mistake I did. And im way more experienced [by a few more years] than you .
If your case, your inexperience might get you into something much more serious than my dent and scratched lower bumper.
For your own safety, get something else

i had a tC, it's the best car for adding bumps, my sound system hit way!! harder in the tC than in the Z. It's not that fast but u can still kill stock or close to stock civics and what not. If you're not gonna be driving that much get a tC and make sure it's auto (god i miss that car).

Anyways back on topic. My first car was an 89 Oldsmobile Cutless. I beat the crap out of it even though it barely had "crap" to beat out of...but I had my close calls. Then moved on to a brand new Prelude. Thought I was already more responsible, and didn't do much wrong with the Oldsmobile. With a more modern car, it would be easier and nicer to control. Keep in mind this was a 200hp car instead of 287/300hp car. Within 10 months, I flipped off a cliff. Almost died (actually died for 3 minutes)....had bones sticking out of me, etc etc...had to re-learn how to walk after 4 months in the hospital.
Throughout the whole time I thought I was responsible. Had 4.0 GPA's, valedictorian of my HS grad, captain of the basketball team, class prez, etc...
Just IMO: No matter what you do, or how mature and responsible you feel, a 15-year-old is a 15-year-old.
Good luck though. You seem like a nice kid. No matter what you get, you are always welcome here.
Skaterbasist and Nitrouz said it like it was, mistakes will always happen. Me starting college, it's a scary place to have a Z, I finally learned that without having to experience it due to the help of experienced people.
In my opinion, no class could get you ready for the random sh*t that will happen to you out in the real world. Your friends will also pressure you immensely to showboat your car, which can result in a crash, ticket, fight, etc.
Remember... there are also people without insurance, people who will hit and run, people who will pressure you to race. Let me paint a picture for you:
You've just had a extremely bad day, fought with your dad, you're late for school or you've just had a horrible day at school and driving out.
You and your friend are riding in the car, your friend says "Ohh man, hey look that guy wants to race you" and you say "Nah man, I won't ever race with this car" then the driver of the car proceeds to either; give you the middle finger or whatever. Your friend does'nt even need to say a word after that, you're right there looking for the gas pedal and flooring it.
Or just imagine riding with your gf, with the same scenario except he decides he'll show you up right in front of your girlfriend and cuts you off 1 inch away from your front bumper and throws out a rude sign out the window and speeds up. Just some things that can happen, and some people will knowingly do anything to push your buttons.
Granted that you are a level headed guy, if it's not one thing that gets to you, it'll be another thing that will end up getting you to that anger; especially out on the road.
